13.- A happy time
“Oh, I had some happy moments, mostly from my childhood…”
Aidan put his hand on his chin, thinking of a happy moment he could recall.
“I particularly remember my seventh birthday, both Mother and Father were home, we took a walk through the village all morning, we lived somewhat far from it so we had to walk for a while but it was worth it. Once we came back home at afternoon, Father grabbed his wooden sword and mine, handed my sword to me and said ‘Alright, kid. You had enough basic training. Let’s spar!’ I was so excited! Since I had memory, Father would teach me only to practice blows on thin air, I was lucky if he put me to hit a tree with my training sword; but this time I got to fight with an opponent for the first time, and not just any opponent, it was my father and one of the best mercenaries the world has ever seen!”
He sighed to pause and to remember the rest of what happened that day. It was obvious he was getting nostalgic
“Needless to say I got my butt kicked over and over again and even got a wound just above my left eyebrow, but even then I enjoy feeling this energy and excitement of facing another fighter. As the sun was hiding Father and I cleaned the dirt and sweat we had off and got inside the house, little did I know was that Mother bought me a small cake from the village’s bakery and hid it from me until then! A small detail if I think of it now, but at the time that just made that already amazing day a perfect day! Easily one of the best days of my life.”
14.- A sad time
“Well, I don’t like to talk about it so I’ll get to the point, it was the day Father left just to never come back… I was ten, he got hired for this battle, Mother and I waited for days for him but what we got was a comrade of his with some bad news…”
Aidan took a deep breath, holding back his emotions. He didn’t like to feel like this so he had to be over quickly before his feelings took the best of him.
“The last thing I remember about him is that he told me I could come with him on his next job once he came back, but as you can see, that didn’t happen…”
