I know they're only equipped with Pulse Rifles which aren't ideal for fighting Necromorphs (at least when the player isn't using them) but how tf did the entire crew of the Valor get wiped out in minutes by a lone Slasher? A whole warship full of elite space marines in cutting edge armor with inbuilt time dilation technology who came prepared for war and they didn't put up even a fraction of the fight most of the lone civilians with improvised weaponry aboard the Ishimura did. Hell gimme a decently sharp axe and a whole lotta luck and I could feasibly take down one basic Slasher (not that I'm anxious to try or anything). If it was Infector aboard the pod I could see it, then it only has to brainspike one or two guys before the others can react and the situation spirals rapidly from there.
