The Evolution of the Shaolin Martial Arts!
Most people say the Martial Arts came from the Shaolin Temple. Undoubtededly, the Shaolin Temple is a big influencer. But, my own theory is slightly different. Originally I wrote a short column about ‘Og and Bog.’ Og steals Bog’s apples by conking him on the head, Bog imagines a defense for getting conked on the head, and we have a technique and the birth of the martial arts. Which is…

The Method to My Martial Arts Madness!
When I was beginning my martial arts practice my intent was to learn every single art I could. These days I practice forgetting every martial art I can. I can’t wait to see what people make of the above statement. Without context, it sounds stupid, idiotic, and can be used against me. But with context it is a different story. Here is the context… To understand the Martial Arts you need a…

At the beginning of my #Aikido #practice, I understood #mastery as the stability of the result. After 20 years of practice Nobuyuki #Watanabe opened for me a world in which the skill is a change of the usual to the opposite. I was surprised by the creative atmosphere in the #dojo #KenBuKai. He is the only master in my Aikido practice who has passed from heart to heart the sincerity of the attack; the gaze turned to the heavens; the power of creative, soft energy. I was fascinated and inspired by the disciples, United in one big family, around the personality of the master thanks to his open heart. His life is a worthy example to follow for me, my children, my students. A life filled with creativity, joyful practice, family atmosphere in different parts of the planet Earth. At one of the meetings, Watabe-Shihan said: "#Life is a striving upward, in spite of the force of gravity." I believe that after death, the soul of the master rushed to Heaven-where he turned his eyes, opened his hands and pulled his body " against the force of gravity." Now it is time for me to look up with prayer and good memory: "I Keep it in my heart, I embody it in my life!" I am honored to be a student of the great master #Budo, who showed me the #Way. #Stavropol, #Russia. Andrey Khanin.

The Secret Behind Mastering the Martial Arts
Newsletter 947 Becoming a Master in the Martial Arts!
You give a guy a hammer, show him how to build a wall, let him build walls for a couple of months and zingo bingo, the guy is a framer. He knows how to set down the two by fours, nail them into a wall, uses a square like a champ, pounds those nails in a wack or two, and he is quick. He is expert. One could even say he is a black belt in framing.

The Real Reason Karate Is No Good!
The Real Reason Karate Is No Good!
Newsletter 919 Karate is No Good! Here’s a beaut for you. Freakin’ unbelievable. I had a student come in the other day, a young kid, and he says: ‘My cousins say my karate is no good. They say that if you don’t use it in the ring its not a martial art.’ Hmmm. So what I had been doing for the last 50 years was no good. I’m glad somebody finally told me. Here I thought I was doing okay. So I asked…
