The reason Buck was so.. hurt by Tommy calling Eddie competition is because he was insinuating that their friendship, which is something so important and real to Buck for the first time in his life was something dirty. That his relationship with Eddie which he views as platonic is comparable to a cheap affair and it demons their bond to something not as strong and long lasting.

He was upset and said ‘okay even if I was in love with him I wouldn’t need to sleep with him’ basically, because he thinks Tommy views him as easy, and would go with Eddie sexually/romantically if they opportunity arrises.

Would he? We don’t know, Tommy doesn’t know and Buck doesn’t know. The important part is he made Buck feel wrong and like a cheater for having a friend and that’s why he snapped the way he did.

He isn’t Buck 1.0 anymore and Buck loves like he’s never had the chance to love before— because he hasn’t and being on the receiving and giving end of true, unfiltered love is everything to him.

I get giddy every time they refer to Buck and Eddie as best friends in canon because oh my god they're each others person in canon romantic or not

I'm a strong believer that Eddie knows he's in love with Buck- knows he has this unfiltered, unchanged dedication to his best friend in a way he's never felt before. Eddie knows that he's in love with him when he signs his rights to Christopher to him in case of death and when he tries to pull the rope up instead of down when Bucks struck by lightning. Eddie knows he's in love when he's shot and watches Buck the entire time, panicked, thinking, ‘you’re hurt’

But he doesn't know he's gay.

Buck, however, knows he likes men. Buck knows he loves the burn of bruised knees the same way he loves nails scratching his back. Buck knows he loves scratchy stubble the same as strawberry shampoo, glossy lips and mascara. Liking men, is new, is freeing, is everything at times, but its also simple. Its him, and has been him since he kisses his first girlfriend at fourteen and asks Tommy to move in with him at thirty three.

But he doesn't know he's in love with his best friend on top of all of that.

Eddie knows he loves Buck like breathing but doesn't know he's gay, and Buck knows he likes men and lets it shape him, be him, adjust him- but being in love with his best friend? he doesn't know. not yet.

I want Helena Diaz to be haunted by Eddie and Shannon through Christophet to the point it makes her sick. I need her to be on the plane home with Chris the day they take him from LA and watch him trace the inside of his palm due to nerves and realise with a pjt in her stomach Eddie would do the same thing when flying before Afghanistan. I want her to call Chris down for dinner and watch him cover his stew in tomato sauce and swallow down the lump in her throat because Eddie would do that.

I want her to ask Christopher to help in the garden and he tells her that lilies are his favourite flower because they mean rebirth and beginnings, all while ditching the gloves and getting his hands dirty in the soil. Shannon would do the same thing in the summer even if her nails were clean. Her favourite were lilies. Chris can't stand the texture of silk, washes his face twice a day and his eye twitches slightly when he is tired.

and one day Christopher picks at his cuticles and tells her about animal facts the drive to church. He ducks his head down when he gets complimented by the ladies after mass and scratches at the spot below his eyebrow.

Shannon haunts her through her son, a reminder of her passing and everything that came before.

Eddie haunts her through living without her, without letting her know whats happening. He haunts her through Chris and the way Chris is shaped to Evan Buckley like he's never known a life without him.

My very unfiltered, Scottish mother just finished the latest episode of 9-1-1 with me and she said something about Eddie that just blew my mind I have to share it.

When Tommy called Eddie compition and that implemented the idea of Buddie to her, who has believed Eddie was gay since his kiss with Shannon, she spoke about why she thinks Eddie is gay and then said,

“He wasn’t running from his son when he left for Afghanistan, he was running from his wife. Because he didn’t mind having a son, he just couldn’t stomach having a wife too.”

And in canon Eddie always says he abandoned his son because he was scared, and if you had the context he was also scared of the thought of having a wife?? That’s tragic.

I would just like everybody to know that I watched the entirety of 911 with my mum and she clocked Eddie was gay the same episode he was introduced. Did I mention she’s also homophobic?

Bonus she also said Buck and Eddie need to stop eye fucking by the s3 kitchen scene and kiss because she hates dragged on romance storylines. Oh how we were in for a surprise
