I was ten years old when I saw the blood moon through my telescope for the first time. It was sunburn red and the more I looked at it, the more I could see simmering anger turning to ash. They sky was a deepening blue, not like a baby’s eyes but more like the sound of Santorini’s waves at night. My parents thought that watching the blood moon would make me feel better and that it would take my mind off everything that was going on.
