It's gross that you ship Bonnie with a man who trapped her in hell, and almost pushed her to suicide. kai gets no credit for saving her from the prison he locked her up in the first place.
So this has been sitting in my inbox for a while because I can't believe it's 2021 and people still think it's OK to send hate on tumblr.
Kai didn't trap Bonnie in the 1994 Prison World. Bonnie was sent there with Damon after the Other Side collapsed to keep her from dying or disintegrating with it. Kai actually gave Bonnie the solution to escaping from the Prison World and Bonnie decided to double cross him because she didn't think he deserved to escape.
Let's make this clear: Kai was willing to work with both of them to escape. Was willing to share his information, and the Ascendant, and work together. Even Damon was OK with this, because he realized this was the practical thing to do and when Damon is the one who's making the most sense in a situation, you know there's a problem.
Bonnie actually killed Kai without realizing he could resurrect.
Now after a lot of back and forth, she stabbed him, he stabbed her, she tricked him, he trapped her, they finally had their Thanksgiving dinner, and Kai shared his backstory with her, and tried one last time to convince her to work together with him to escape the prison world. Bonnie refused again. So he left her behind.
Repeat: Kai left Bonnie behind. He didn't trap her. He didn't lock her up in the Prison World. He just made his prison break on his own. She could have escaped with the Ascendant, her blood and magic only ---- oops, Bonnie sent her magic away. Kai didn't take her magic from her. Kai didn't steal her magic away. She sent it.
The only person who 'trapped' Bonnie in that prison world was her own choices.
Kai definitely deserves credit for saving her, especially as he did more to save her in one day than all her friends combined did in the months before then.
The fact that Bonnie blames Kai for 'abandoning' her speaks to her trauma because that's a distortion of what really happened. She wasn't abandoned by Kai but her friends, who went on with their lives - for the third time - and ignored her suffering. The first was when she was a ghost during their senior year summer. The second was when she was going to die as Anchor and nobody pushed her to find out what her plan was, just assuming that she was somehow going to manage to save herself. And now, for the third time, Bonnie was going through crap and her friends were nowhere in sight. Her anger at Kai was transference. What did Kai, a relative stranger whom she hated and believed hated her back, owe her? Absolutely nothing. That pain she was telling Damon - "the worst thing he did was to leave me all alone" - she wasn't talking about Kai, she was talking about Damon, Elena, Jeremy, Caroline.... all the people who left her alone after years of her being the one to save them.
Or it should have been about transference, about Bonnie's long-running trauma but the show doesn't care enough about Bonnie as a character to explore what that really meant. She locked Kai up in 1903, and all her problems were solved. The End.
You don't have to like Bonkai or Kai as a character, but your criticisms have to be honest, not made up nonsense.
