{D-Q Editorial}: Tel Aviv's Decision to Block all Humanitarian Aid to Gaza - 2 Mar 2025
The starvation of civilian populations, especially deeply dislocated ones, is a likely war crime.
Unfortunately, despite ICC warrants, despite International Court of Justice orders to maintain humanitarian aid, and despite the view of the bulk of the international community, the Netanyahu government's resumption of an aid blockade has occurred.
Early in this conflict, Jordan and the US undertook air drops of humanitarian aid into Gaza. While a blunt and sometimes dangerous tool, let us not forget that the US broke the blockade of West Berlin early in the Cold War using some similar tactics.
Whatever other initiatives are called for, please also consider flooding the embassies of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Turkiye and the like with requests that they consider aid drops in the near-term.
