The Dunmore Pineapple House in Airth Scotland.
a large portion of fantasy: fire = dragons
Airth: fire = humans
Ask any non-human race who has sat by the fire with a human companion, and they will tell you that the fire reflects in their eyes like it belongs there. That the light plays across their face as naturally as the breeze moves through leaves. The other races have their oddities, certainly, but none are so connected to fire. If a culture has a fire deity, then the culture originated with humans. If a festival or ritual directly involves fire, then it originated with humans. Ask any non-human race who has lived or fought alongside humans, who has seen them live and die, and they will tell you that there is a light in human eyes that one does not find elsewhere.
The fire reflects off their eyes like it belongs there.

6 months ago some of you expressed a need for Air/Earth smut. I got myself into writing a story that turned out to have way more plot than I anticipated.
Are you ready? I hope it was worth the wait.

in Airth, tritons are distant descendants of water spirits. since there are different types of water spirits based on what region/country you're in, there are some differences in tritons based on where they're from.
ok, cool. makes sense.
now it's time to figure out which tritons are more like which sea creatures. which ones are more like deep-water predators, shiny and bioluminescent to attract prey? which ones are more like sharks, with sharp teeth meant to tear and roughened skin? which ones are solitary hunters, which ones hunt in groups? would those groups be more like orcas or more like sea lions? do tritons that live nearer to the surface speak similarly to their siren cousins, are the deep-water ones' voices low and eerie? or are both salt-water roughened?
ok, so. Drakien Empire. culture is super heavily based around war, also they're dragon-shifters. as in, usually human shaped but occasionally dragon shaped. there's a few other complexities there but whatever.
these people. who regularly carry at least 10 different weapons on their body at any given time. are also almost aggressively polite.
entire trade deals and alliances have been dropped because someone was a jerk to their subordinates.
and because almost every aspect of Drakien culture can be linked to war in some way, this aspect comes from the idea that if a general is a dick to their soldiers, those soldiers wouldn't be willing to fight alongside that general.
