Sometimes I think about how observant Aizen is. Often times it’s because he’s cautious, suspicious and wary of others. He can’t let them know what he’s thinking, he can’t let them know his plans, he can’t let them in.
But sometimes he watches you with an unusual softness about him. The way you inspect teacups and tableware. How you’ll rub your thumb over the rim of a cup, inspecting the detailing and quality.
He watches your eyes light up ever so slightly at the pleasing feel of smooth porcelain, the refreshing sip of cold water, or the gentle warmth of the tea he brewed for you.
He’s made mental notes on everyone, including you. A vast array of information at the tip of his fingers no library can compare. But the “books” he has on you are the ones he’ll gladly read over and over again.
Anon: Sesshomaru, aizen, kaneki, shaiapouf, illumi and muzan with a insanely smart darling that instead of using their smarts to escape or something instead they use to do things like steal their phone back, for a few it should not even work but they've made it work somehow or even if its broken they just somehow get it back and fix it, or be mostly incomprehensible with the things they say, like half of it is just slang terms always used correctly.
Some of these characters live in an era where phones weren't even invented yet and because I am not in the mood for an isekai'd reader right now, I'm just going to make this an insanely smart darling instead so not all characters will include the topic of phones.
🎻That brain of yours is the reason why Shaiapouf has initially paid you any mind at all. No one could have compared to the intelligence and the strength that his previous King possessed yet you come close when it comes to the matters of the brain and hence you earn his devotion. If Shaiapouf has learned anything, it is that connection to others is what ruined his previous King and so he isolates you to not allow your heart to be swayed and so that he may teach you properly how to be the new royalty he is going to serve. Naturally your phone is taken away for it serves as a useless distraction. Perhaps it is because you are a human that he still has the habit of underestimating you which is why he actually doesn't catch on until it is already too late. Tears of joy due to the sheer scale of your intelligence mix with that familiar bitterness of having his advice and help be ignored once again as on the one hand he wishes to praise you and on the other he just wants to shake you and wail why everyone he serves seems to take his advice for nothing. Shaiapouf needs to be needed and so at one point your intelligence may even offend him as it stops you from relying on him and so he may just attempt using his scales to temporarily "dumb" you down when the two of you are alone so that he can fulfill his purpose.
Illumi Zoldyck
🤎Illumi appreciates your intelligence only if it is used in ways he can control. If it serves the Zoldyck Family, he is fine with you tinkering on random objects or building stuff yourself but only when he knows exactly what it is you are doing. As an assassin of this family, Illumi is naturally very paranoid and controlling and even if you may not use your intelligence to attempt escaping, a part of his brain will always consider the possibility that you may still do it one day. However, that doesn't stop him from still feeling the need to restrict you and control you in different ways as you belong to him and therefore he has to look intensely after you as you are in his care. So it is the act of you always getting your phone back or fixing it that becomes a major trigger point for him. You do it so consistently too which only worsens the situation as you defy his explicit command as he is the one who took your phone away so that you could not contact anyone nor distract yourself from him. Also, he probably gets triggered by the fact that you use slang he doesn't understand the more you keep on defying him in persistent ways because it makes him feel like he doesn't understand you which shouldn't be as he is the one who owns you. Yeah, you may end up with a needly in your neck soon.
Kaneki Ken
🔲Depending on at what mental stage Kaneki himself is at the moment, things can look quite differently. What stays the same though is this knowledge that you are in a league of your own when it comes to your IQ but that doesn't mean that Kaneki feels fine with accepting this. He actually feels rather insecure, especially when he is still trying to come to terms with his own new biology as he has always admired but never dared to approach you simply because he felt like he was beneath you. Once his paranoia actually gets the better of him and he ends up abducting you, he realises just how exhausting it can be because of your intelligence. You constantly build yourself random stuff out of trinkets and trash that actually work and often he cannot keep up when you have a conversation with him due to the advanced vocabulary that you rely on. His own university life is put on a hold due to being a half-ghoul and it makes him feel intellectually inferior even more as he probably still attempts to study in secrecy when he has the time. You may even find yourself being able to manipulate him relatively easily before his life goes even worse and his paranoia shoots through the roof, leaving you with a man led by paranoid obsession and no logic you can properly target any longer.
Kibutsuji Muzan
🩸Instead of wasting your time tinkering on useless equipments, you should rather help him artificially recreate the Spider Lily. Obviously Muzan has ulterior motives when he initially abducts you and imprisons you within his Infinity Castle as he has heard the tales of your intelligence and has reached his wit's end, forcing him to rely on your inferior kind to help him now. And honestly, he is actually the one most offended about your intelligence despite trying to act like you are not even worth getting mad over. After all he has lived for over a millenium only to be outsmarted by someone less than three decades old and is probably the reason he avoids talking too much to you as he doesn't wish to be interrupted and corrected by you whenever he gets something wrong. Threatening you has little effect either as you can conclude that he wouldn't be dumb enough to kill you whilst he still needs you, meaning that for now you are safe. However, Muzan still desires that brain of yours for himself. If he could be the one who is in possession of you, he could claim all of your intelligence and feats for himself as he would be the one you'd be serving and obeying then. Perhaps by turning you into a demon, you'd finally listen to him.
Aizen Sousuke
🌫️Now, he certainly finds it quite entertaining to have someone who is clearly so capable of outsmarting most of the Espada but because you are a human, you very clearly do not understand just yet that you have entered a new world where even your intelligence won't be much good in the face of the sheer strength and scale of abilities you have no clear way to defend yourself against. After all an Espada like Szayelaporro may get offended if you figure out his craft in very little time and can add theories he himself hasn't thought of yet as you view things from a different perspective but no matter how much others may be annoyed by you, as long as they know that Aizen is around, they won't dare to hurt you out of fear of angering him. Aizen himself enjoys spending his time arguing or discussing things with you as he never gets as easily offended as others tend to be. In fact he may find your rambles even adorable but deep down he never quite learns to respect or admire you for it all either. He could never hold any for you as you are human and therefore naturally beneath him. With his tendency to have his Zanpakuto always activated to test you, he is also going to very much push your intelligence to its limits for all of your senses elude you the moment you are trapped in his illusions.
Sesshomaru
🐺Surrounded by Jaken who tends to agree blindly to everything he says and Rin who is a mere child, your company is actually rather welcome as you are the only one Sesshomaru can have a normal conversation with. He supposes that he should be grateful for this as so far you have not made any attempts to escape from him either though it is in his nature to always be cautious when it comes to such things. You could still try eventually. As Sesshomaru is constantly wandering from place to place, you have little time to actually build stuff and it is intended this way for if he doesn't keep you busy crossing rivers and climbing mountains, your brain tends to get uneasy and you end up building something far too advanced for the time period the two of you reside in. With your intellect you may also know a thing or two about the spells of priestresses and how to repel yokai like him and so it is only natural that he doesn't just let you wander of and build whatever springs to your mind because you may very well build a talisman that would burn him if he were to touch it not out of malice but simply because you can. Honestly, he's the one who respects that brain of yours the most because he recognises what you could do with it but he is terrible at admitting this to you.
Movement, Before All Flowers - Aizen Sōsuke × Reader
The lovely and talented @mukenaizen posted a while ago about running fingers through his hair and his head in your lap. The thought has stuck with me ever since. I hope this is an acceptable offering- you bring so much joy to my days!
He's fine. Why are you concerned?
Everything is going according to plan. He found a backway into Central 46's chambers for future use, Urahara Kisuke is currently wrapping a most precious gift for him... He's overjoyed, in fact! So what if his favourite tea cup broke? Who cares if Hinamori still hasn't figured out what information is actually pertinent for his weekly reports? He's not that bothered, he swears.
"You're going to give yourself wrinkles, Sōsuke. You're working too hard. Please, my love, lay back."
But, you. You, his beloved, are convinced that you know an unknowable man best. Seem to believe that he's burning the candle at both ends. In some aspect, he is grateful for your care. After all, you did shoo away Gin's latest attempt to inflict madness into his life, but now here you are, requesting that he 'relax'.
"There will be no wrinkles," he reassures. Not if he has anything to say about it.
Today, he chooses to indulge this bout of your compassion.
You've come this far, you're too committed to stop. And so your hands find his shoulders to beckon him down, and Aizen Sōsuke chooses to fall to your will. He tips back to find his head propped up against a familiar and admittedly comfortable warmth. Ah. It's been a long time since he layed in your lap like this.
"Much better," you murmur, so softly that it quells his apprehensiveness. Fine. He will permit you this, if only because the sight of you over him is one he'll long for in a few years time.
"Even gods find time to rest, dear," you coo, a sentiment he finds to be utter nonsense. Yet, running your fingers through chestnut locks of hair does seem to chase away tension he didn't know he was carrying. He settles further into your lap as your fingertips trace soothing patterns into his scalp. Each strand glides through your hands and the slight tugging sensation and nails softly scratching cure some long-forgotten ache deep down within him. How long has it been since he measured the space between his breaths like this?
"Your hair's so soft, Sōsuke." And he can't help but preen at the praise.
As his glasses come off and your hands massage where the rims had rested around his ears, a low rumble resonates in his chest and he decides that this distraction is acceptable. As your hands coax old stresses away, maybe he'll even deign to share some of them with you. Maybe.
The moment stretches on, lost to time and a wicked plot. But within this strange space, perhaps Aizen Sōsuke, too, finds merit in rest.
This one felt right from his perspective, even if it's not how I'd normally write someone so enigmatic. As a result, it's a bit OOC, I know. But how does one coax Aizen into such a position anyway? Something about domesticity in the midst of planning the crime of the century appeals to me.
Excerpt from Beyond God and Evil (Aizen Sōsuke/Female Reader)
Continuation of An Eternity of Mind Games with You
Canon-divergence set months after TBYW. Reader is the new Soul King, so is Aizen if you squint hard enough. Your name is "Hana" for plot-purposes.
Tags: Romantic comedy, fluff and angst, enemies to old married couple, banter as love language, mutual pining, immortality, so good luck with the slow burn, Aizen is a menace but your menace <3
THAT NIGHT, in the Greater Soul King Palace, Aizen can be seen looking for you as you were not in your shared office nor in your personal quarters. He eventually finds you in the tearoom, reading a scroll while leisurely sitting on the tatami mat, near the window.
He stops himself from speaking, simply staring at you from a short distance away. You are already dressed in your usual nightwear — a white yukata so plain that it does not seem to befit a woman of your status. Nonetheless, with the gentle moonlight shining down upon your form and accentuating your regal yet serene features, the soothing breeze swaying your long, ivory strands in languid waves, the sight is incontestably ethereal — the image akin to a goddess in a painting.
Except that you are actually one. In every sense of the word.
After minutes of engrossed reading, you rise to return to the table when you finally notice Aizen standing in the doorway. He saunters towards you and stops in front of the low table, his eyes — that were previously appreciative — instantly narrowing in disdain upon sighting the poorly-written characters on the scattered papers.
“Can you, for the hundredth time, get off my case?” you groan while taking a seat.
He makes no retort and merely picks up your calligraphy brush and a blank paper, demonstrating how to write characters properly before handing the brush back to you.
“Like this. Do it again,” he commands, sounding like a stern teacher dealing with a wayward student. You repeat his strokes but the result is nowhere near satisfactory. You glance at him gingerly.
Although the displeased frown is ever-present on his face, he surprisingly does not insult you and simply sits beside you.
“Again.”
This time, he carefully guides your hand, pressing against your knuckles and fingers as he adjusts your grip. It is arguably an intimate gesture yet both of you pay it no mind, your entire focus on your calligraphy.
Strange enough, when he moves your hand along with his, you are able to write beautiful characters. But when left alone, your penmanship is almost comparable to that of a toddler. Hence, it is probably no exaggeration to claim that your innate inability to write legibly remains to be one of the greatest mysteries in the Three Realms.
Aizen observes your crestfallen expression. A mischievous idea suddenly crosses his mind, causing a smirk to spread across his face.
“Shall we make this more interesting? Every time you fail to write correctly, you will have to do one thing I want.”
You regard him with an look that screams you find his suggestion idiotic. “You must be out of your mind if you think I will ever agree to that.”
He leans closer to you, his grin widening in taunt. “Why? Do you have zero confidence in your own writing skills?”
“Your obvious provocation won't work on me.”
Aizen simply stares at you for a moment before leaning back with feigned nonchalance. “Shame. And here I was thinking of treating you to your favorite restaurant for the next decade should you win.”
Your ears instantly perk up at his offer. “Really?”
He barely stops himself from laughing derisively at your piqued interest. The way you fell for such an obvious bait, like a child who has been promised a treat, was downright pitiful.
“Do you accept the challe—?”
“Wait a minute,” you interject with a hand raised. “But your money technically comes from the Soul King Palace.”
“Which is my palace,” he argues with arms crossed over his chest. “Your point is?”
“It actually belongs to me but since I’m feeling particularly generous right now, I will share it with you,” you start rambling to buy yourself more time to consider his offer. “Anyway, your money is my money. Even if you say that you’ll treat me—”
“Hana. Do you want the unagi or not?”
Your mouth instantly shuts at his question and the way he called your name, sternly but also in a familiar manner. After a long moment of silent contemplation, you surrender with a sigh.
“Fine, but make it a millennium.”
He raises an eyebrow at your bold haggling. “Five decades.”
“Millennium.”
“A century.”
“A millennium, Aizen,” you declare with finality. “I refuse to play your game unless you agree.”
“Alright,” he relents. “I’ll treat you for the next one thousand years if you win.”
However, unbeknownst to you, the game is but a scheme, as per usual, to make you spend more time with him in the next decade — which you unknowingly extended to a millennium. Aizen smiles to himself, beyond pleased to witness you digging your own grave.
“Then, let the challenge begin.”
After handing you the brush and paper, he gives you the first character to write. You have never been so focused in your life as you are determined to win at all costs. However—
“Huh?” you mutter in disbelief as you stare at your own disastrous handwriting.
Aizen smirks, having seen your failure coming from a mile away. He already has an order in mind but feigns uncertainty to prolong your agony. His index finger drums the table, pretending to be deep in thought. “Hmm, shame. What should I make you do now?”
You watch him with narrowed eyes, already well-acquainted with his antics. “Stop beating around the bush and say it already.”
“How about this?” he deliberately pauses for dramatic effect. “I want you to say ‘All hail Lord Aizen, the new Soul King of the Three Realms’ ten times.”
A deafening silence falls upon the room as you meet his taunting gaze with a bemused expression. When he shows no indication of changing his command, you unwillingly surrender but not without a catch.
“All hail Lord Aizen, the self-proclaimed new Soul King of the Three Realms,” you deadpan.
Obviously, Aizen is far from impressed. “If you refuse to adhere to the terms, you will not get that unagi even if you win.”
With your beloved meal held hostage, you grit your teeth in annoyance and reluctantly heed his order. The grimace on your face worsens as you watch his shit-eating grin widen with every repetition you make, his head nodding with purposeful slowness to further grate your nerves.
Once you’re finished, he praises you with a sarcastic applause. “Well done, Hana. I never knew you appreciated me that much.”
You hiss under your breath and impatiently pick up the brush, glaring down at the empty paper, determined to win the next challenge. However—
As Aizen has predicted, you still fail at your second attempt. And miserably at that.
Slamming your hands down onto the table, you stare at the paper with profound disbelief, eyeing the barely decipherable scribbles as if wanting to wipe them from existence. How is it even possible to be that bad at something that was supposedly easy to do?
At the realization that you lost to him again, you look down, refusing to meet his gaze due to humiliation.
Aizen only sighs before shaking his head in mock disappointment. “I’m starting to think that you’re losing on purpose so I can get to order you around.”
“Please shut your mouth and just get on with it,” you beseech almost pathetically.
Thus, without further ado, he declares:
“You have to sit in my lap for the rest of your calligraphy practice.”
