okay it’s time for an aj appreciation post
bc he’s my favorite member but also deeply underrated by the fandom so here we go
exhibit a: can we TALK about the amount of iconic jokes he’s made?? i mean just to list a few there’s:
oooooh sommerset (idk how to spell it 😭)
the entirety of the creepy dad timewarp
i don’t like escape rooms
that one bit in wine under the bridge where sam is like “pestle and mortar” and aj goes “don’t call me that” I WAS REELING
all of this is just from my list of favorite jokes, and i have so many more, but he’s probably the member that makes me laugh the most often! he’s so brilliant and his comedic timing is genius.
exhibit b: his acting skills. so first of all there’s his characterization of henry which is insanely terrifying for someone who (earlier that show) played a child with a cocaine egg.
his range in general is so amazing bc he can play soft son with a lot of emotions (michael cavendish) badass little girl (priscilla) badass married woman (mrs claus) terrifying sherrif (henry) and pathetic little dude (strong belb and ybbob). this man can do anything. also andre beetroot. he doesn’t really fit in any category.
his acting as mark is also kinda slept on bc he makes the character just feel so real. it would’ve been very easy for mark to become a very passive character, but aj plays him in such a deep way!
and then some of his best acting is exemplified in sorry about my nan as jim. i’m not smart enough to fully explain why his acting Hits Different in this one, but jim and jamie have such a sweet and believable friendship (stag husbands my beloved) and after jamie mentions the whole thing about lucy/julie hitting on him, the way jim says “no she didn’t, stop it.” send chills down my spine.
exhibit c: idk i’m gonna stop with this exhibit thing and just list some more minor details about him that i really like and i find admirable :)
he’s willing to be the butt of the joke very often but he always takes it well and laughs along
his laugh is so precious omggg
might be a little random but the cadence of his speaking is very nice to hear
is just a silly little guy! :]
