They are all celebrating Diwali today. It is an Autumn festival that is rooted in Hinduism, although other faiths like Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism all have variations of it. Originally, the Mexican people celebrated this in the summer. It celebrated the death of the ancestors. Here are beautiful kids from the Thar, which is the most densely populated desert in the world. Around sixty percent of this desert is located in the Indian state of Rajasthan, which is where this photo was taken. “I just love their faces,” said Ashok, a model I was photographing in the area, as the children lined up happy to strike a pose. Children, for me, are the same worldwide. Whether they are in New York City or in the heart of the desert in India, they are open and full of love.
