Honestly the only "obscure" MDZS character I can think of I actually like is Ouyang Zizhen. Wen Qing might qualify in novel canon.

my favorite in-universe explanation is each village says the war started a different date and for different reasons, cause propaganda and stuff, and the ninja parrot it along because they have to. also because they get gaslighted as fuck and start believing the village's version for real, even if they actually were there

Now THIS is some big brained canon analysis. This way we can see it as not a coincidence that characters say something happened “ten years ago” when it often absolutely did not.

5: Platonic OTPs/BROTPs? Rarepairs? OT3+s?

Hmmmmmm aside from wangxian, xicheng is my other fav but I’ve seen a lot of content for it so idk if it would be a rarepair or anything? Uhmmmmm. This is a tough one becuase aside from those two ships I don’t ship a lot in MDZS.

Neilan is also good but I’m just partial to anything that involves LXC getting loved and appreciated.

I suppose songxiao is a rarepair in comparison to the alternative of xue yang and Xiao xingchen and Im a songxiao fan.

Also another rarepair is I want qin su and mianmian to runaway and be warrior wives. no I won’t explain or change my mind.

Platonic Brotp, I’d say young yunmeng prides. JC is a special character to me and his and wwx relationship prewar is v fun and I enjoy the banter.

Also platonic brotp of WWX and Mainmian. I have a fic idea where I want to flesh out a two gay best friends but everyone thinks they’re dating type fic because I think they’d get along really well as bros lol.

Also Lwj and Jyl as the founders and leaders of the wwx deserves love and support fan club and theyd bond over blanket burritoing wwx and cooking for him

No real ot3’s I’m not a big fan of the sworn brothers triad as a ship dynamic. Maybe if they got along earlier on but it feels like most of the time the 3 spent together nmj was suspicious of jgy and I just don’t get the appeal personally.

I love the juniors but don’t ship any of them with anyone. The only thing I ship with the juniors is general mayhem and property damage.

I love wangxian adn I really feel like wholely and entirely they just love eachother with every fiber of their being and then some. I just love their connection and just everything they go through to get their happy ending god wangxian really has my entire heart and soul

Though my background is firmly traditional media, all my fanart is indeed digital, mainly because it’s quicker and easier. All are done in Krita using the included brushes (usually the 4B pencil one, I think). Hope this isn’t a disappointment ;)

“What is that?” piped in a very curious (and annoying) voice.

Jiang Cheng slaps the hands reaching for the box on the table with practiced precision and ease. He ignores the whining from who used to be Yunmeng Jiang sect’s top disciple and slowly opens the object of the other’s interest and the one he’s brought.

The moment the lid is removed, a soft gasp exits the lips of the dressed up figure in front of him. He mentally scoffs as he remembered why exactly he was in this position right now. His eyes look at the other occupant of the room and clenches his hands into a fist hidden behind the low table separating them.

Who would have thought that this hooligan and flirt would actually end up getting married?

Dressed in bold red robes (he’d have to thank those two Lan juniors and A-Ling later for being able to properly put them on this idiot despite his wiggling and inability to stay still), he soaks up the sight of him. He doesn’t tell him that those robes he had on were patterned after their sister’s own wedding robes. He doesn’t tell him that this time, he fervently wishes that those wedding patterns will bless a happier and longer marriage.

He wordlessly takes the intricately designed hairpin from the box and stands up to walk over to the dumbass. He thumbs over the clear colored lotus jade pin with tassels of red, white, and violet all per string adorned with tiny precious beads. It took him days to finalize the design of this hair ornament with the crafts maker back in Yunmeng. Wei Wuxian may be marrying into the Lans but he has always (and will always be) a part of the Jiang family.

The soon to be married cultivator doesn’t speak as he watches from the mirror how Yunmeng Jiang’s sect leader carefully tie up his hair halfway and put small braids on the sides. The same hands that whipped him with Zidian now mindfully twirled those braids into a half bun and finished it with the lotus carved gifted hairpin.

Neither of them spoke and merely stared at each other through the mirror. Wei Wuxian slowly raised his right hand and gripped his brother’s. The hardness in Jiang Cheng’s eyes softened a tad bit and held back just as tightly. They have a long way ahead for the path of forgiveness; but this is a start.

After finishing the novel, I’m actually a bit...

they were made to submit things for “approval” of the government earlier than usual this year, and they didn’t have time to make as many episodes as they should’ve so they had to cram as much as they could in the time they were given

Oh, I see. By "approval," do you mean censorship of homoerotic content? *sigh* I hate that this is the reason, but I thank you so much for letting me know why we have such a short, condensed S2.

Okay, that makes sense. If S1 was 15 episodes (I think that's right), and S2 was only 8 episodes, then they had to cram all the story in half the time. That's really hard, so I get it and kudos to them. I wonder why they didn't just decide to do half a season -- like stretch the narrative out like it should have been, but just tell half the story that was planned for S2. I'm sure they probably had other things to think about and I'm oversimplifying the solution, but it's just such a shame to me because S1 was perfectly executed in my opinion. I wish they could have had the luxury of matching the pacing for the subsequent season.
