Ayakashi – Aki’s Karuta Poem
For anyone wondering what poem Aki refers to in his “Love Grows” SR story, it is poem # 51 by Fujiwara no Sanekata:
How can I tell her How fierce my love for her is? Will she understand That the love I feel for her Burns like Ibuki's fire plant?
[Contains spoilers for the dawn faction]
How do the different books/routes work in Ayakoi? I understand that each one centres around a different boy, but the "secondary" characters that are common to every route (Akiyasu and Aizen) act really differently in different routes. I get that different plot points trigger different actions from them, but in Koga's route Aizen seems worse that Akiyasu, while in Ginnojo's route Aizen is super respectful and sweet. I was really confused when I read the different routes because I didn't know what to think anymore.
Akiyasu is fairly consistent even if he is less "bad" in Aoi's route compared to the others, but I just don't know what to think about Aizen. His different decisions (to apologise versus to threaten Futaba) are too opposite for me to see the reasons behind them, other than to make his character do different things in different routes. But that prevents me from understanding who he truly is as a character.
What do other people think of this?
Am I the only one who found Aizen was almost like two different people throughout the dawn faction's books? I'm used to having other routes give more info on the characters and reveal things, but not confuse me like this...
Kagemaru and Akiyasu from Ayakashi: Romance Reborn are a Poison/Bug type and a Ghost/Psychic type respectively.
Kagemaru is a Poison/Bug Type!
Akiyasu is a Ghost/Psychic Type!
Kagemaru: People in relationships are WEAK. They are making themselves vulnerable and give their enemies a target to attack
Akiyasu: Y/N is literally sitting on your lap hugging you right now
Akiyasu: You gave them a promise ring
Akiyasu: they have been your Significant other for god knows how long
Kagemaru: So? I don’t see your point

Tw: unhealthy relationship, obsessiveness, manipulation, unhealthy mindset, violence, murder, and kidnapping
🧧 Akiyasu's a clingy and obsessive type of yandere. For the obsessive trait, I think it's pretty obvious, he obsesses over almost everything he does, and I don't think his darling would be any different. He said to the main character that he wants to know everything about them in patrols, he would probably want to know every single detail about his darling's life. For the clingy trait, Akiyasu has lost a lot in his life, in the lover's book he told the main character that he doesn't want them to leave him. I don't think that would be any different with this darling, and it would probably be even more intense.
🧧He is also the manipulative, projection, and protective type. I don't think I have to explain the manipulative trait, I mean just read the first book, and look at Kagamaru's comments during the Milk Hall chats and when you level up his bond, he says that he would do very good in the theater biz. As for the projection trait, he says a lot about his old man and references him a lot, and I think that he would fall for someone who's a lot like his father. As they're also probably an Onmoyji, they also use a similar fighting style, mainly from Akiyasu teaching them that fighting style. For the protective trait, I think it's mainly with Kagamaru and trying to shield them from his unique sense of humor, it doesn't work. I don't think Aki would underestimate his darling, as he trained them and he can also feel how much spiritual energy they have.
🧧He gets jealous, but doesn't show it. He will hold it in until he snaps, also kind of a tsundere, he’ll mainly be like this with Kagemaru and if the darling has any family. As he respects fears Kagemaru, bacuse he's powerful and helped him out. As well, Aki is respectful and appreciative envious of the family of his darling, especially parents/parental figures and sibling and the bonds they have. If he really can't get them away or hold it in any longer, he will snap and coldly ask the person (people) to leave, often times leaving everyone but him confused. Although with time, a little bit of observation, and analysation, they will figure out he is getting jealous pissed off and will hopefully remove themself, or ask the others to leave.
🧧Aki will kill for his darling, weather it be competition or someone who wronged his darling in their past. He feels no remorse for it, and often justifies it with his own twisted logic. I mean we all know what happened with the red eyes incident. It was all about getting his father back, and getting respect for the divine arts. Even though he knows what he did back then was wrong, he will most likely see this as helping them with the divine arts instead of hurting them, or anyone else.
🧧Aki might kidnap his darling if he can't convince them to be in a relationship with him, or if they're in danger. The latter is more likely to happen in my opinion, as that would be a very big breaking point for him. Mainly because of what happened to Fubata and his father. If he does happen to kidnap his darling, he will try and keep them as comfortable as possible and putting up barriers so they cannot escape. He will also try and mess up, explaining why he kidnapped them.
