Title: Crashing waves
Pairing: Jin Soo x Mi Ran | Like Flowers in Sand
Rating: G
CWs: implicit confessions, mentions of dating, Baek Doo and Doo Sik are mentioned, exploration of Mi Ran and Jin Soo’s feelings.
Summary: Mi Ran and Jin Soo go to the beach. The sound of the sea may drown their conversations, but never their feelings.
Word count: 1.5 k
A/N: This came to be because of CagedNightingale’s comments on this poem on ao3, their support made me want to try my hand at one more piece for Mi Ran and Jin Soo, because these two deserved so much more <3
The feeling of cold waves licking at her feet distracted her from the wind undoing her braid tug by tug. Mi Ran enjoyed the attack on her senses, the way her lungs felt full and squashed simultaneously.
“It’s crazy we never go to the beach.” Jin Soo had walked up to her and was now squatting beside her.
“We don’t know how to swim.” She turned her head to look at him, strands of hair all around her countenance.
The woman who always arrived late had been early for their meeting. It hadn’t been deliberate, and at the same time, it had been exactly Mi Ran’s intention. There was something about her that was impossible to ignore, even to herself. To Jin Soo, it felt like she was a star, or a planet, and he had simply been a comet. It was in their nature: she pulled him in effortlessly.
Words weren’t necessary. Mi Ran’s silences weren’t a protective barrier to him. She didn’t need to guard herself, debating whether the pain of not being recognised was better than the pain of being seen. Jin Soo understood her in ways unknown to words. He had never stopped seeing her.
He still blamed himself, for making the wrong choice. For leaving her alone, when everything in his body was screaming to stay by her side. How would’ve things been then?
There was an absence between them, thick and rough. It was the years they hadn’t seen each other, wailing in the dark.
There had been a time when Jin Soo had been jealous of her, as he had been of Kim Baek Doo all throughout his childhood. Then, the feeling he held inside of him, those memories that prevented him from forgetting about her, turned into something less sharp, but with more body. It was thick but not heavy, and it didn’t leave him feeling ashamed. It was something new. It took him a few times and some trial and error to realise that he admired Mi Ran.
It was probably unfair, and he would never tell her, but he did, and he couldn’t help it. Just like he couldn’t help enjoying going to her café and sharing a moment as delicious and short as the coffee.
“It’s a shame Baek Doo and Doo Sik couldn’t come with us.” Jin Soo was starting to worry that time was running through his fingers as fast as the sand slipping through Mi Ran’s open hands.
“It would’ve been a nice double date.”
It took Jin Soo a while to process the words under Mi Ran’s attentive gaze. She usually surprised him with her stories and mental processes, but when he was quiet it wasn’t because she left him speechless. He simply tried to find the best words to correspond to her. But not this time. This time, his mouth opened, without any option to choose from.
He had thought about it before, how it would be to date Mi Ran. It wasn’t just because Baek Doo and Doo Sik dating had put ideas of old friends turning into lovers in his brain. Deep down, he had always known there was a deeper pull driving him towards Mi Ran. It had nothing to do with being childhood friends, although that did contribute. But his feet guiding him to her café wasn’t just about needing a comforting and familiar presence outside of his family.
“You don’t agree? You don’t have to look so surprised.”
He recognised it, the tone she used when she pretended to be joking. It was easier this way. No one had to be hurt, but she could still say what she wanted.
It made Jin Soo sick.
“Mi Ran-ah.”
It wasn’t a warning, even if his voice sounded serious. He didn’t like how she hid herself behind that twisted humour, for fear of revealing something real. But he also knew the truth was painful. No one likes knowing they are all alone in the world. All of Mi Ran’s attempts for connection and belonging were awkward and unfiltered, they held a rawness that was too easy to manipulate into something else. And so she did. But he didn’t want that anymore.
“There will be time for double dates.” His words were calm and she mistook that for confidence. He wasn’t confident she wasn’t going to reject him, even if she had been the one to start the joke. He knew she already had enough reasons to discard him, to not trust him. He hadn’t been there when she had most needed it.
The guilt took hold of his stomach and punched him. However, he didn’t let it on his expression. He simply waited for what had to come. He would accept her response, whatever it was.
“No one will believe us four are on a double date.” The corners of her mouth turned upwards, and her words were punctuated by an airy chuckle.
“I think we make a great couple. You and I.” It was risky, dropping the ‘would’, and bluntly stating his opinion. But her jocosity had made him brave.
And it was true. They looked good together. Mi Ran, with her golden curls, red lipstick and elegant clothes. It made Jin Soo want to do something with his hair, something that put him at her level.
“You don’t want to date the girl that everyone pities in the village.”
It was like a strong throw, unexpected, leaving him breathless on the ground.
It had been easier when no one remembered or recognised her. But Jin Soo knew better than to accept that. The label was too small for her, too superficial. And honestly, he couldn’t care less what a bunch of gossip said.
“Maybe it’s time we left the village.”
She didn’t need to say it, to know what was running through her mind. The café. Her dream. How was she to leave it? She would be leaving a part of herself behind.
She had spent years away, and when she came back, it was painful and comforting at the same time. The memories of the time she had with her father were more vivid, but distorted by the passage from childhood into adulthood. She was bigger, taller, but felt as small as the little girl who lost it all. Growing up didn’t replace the void, and neither did finally achieving her dream.
Opening the café made her feel closer to her father and to the part of herself that had once felt comfortable dreaming of a future. Was she supposed to forget that just for some gossip?
“You deserve to run a café that gets busy not just when people want to gossip for hours while only paying for one coffee.”
She swallowed, trying to placate the vortex of feelings welling up. She couldn’t deny it, the business was not exactly what she had pictured, much less what she had dreamed of. Yes, the view was ideal, and she knew it would be difficult to find another place that close to the sea. But the clientele was barely enough to pay for rent and her living expenses.
She knew she wanted more, but had been too afraid to think she actually deserved more. Hearing Jin Soo saying the words, made a spark inside of her begin shining again. It was hope. He did that to her. Lighting her up and relaxing her enough to ignite a fire that fueled her.
Maybe this time, change could be good.
She reached towards him and touched his hand. His palm was warm and rough against her fingertips. For a second, she regretted reaching out, but then Jin Soo enveloped her hand with his. It was new, yet comfortable. This unfamiliar distance between them, or lack thereof.
“Oppa, are you sure you want to date a barista?”
He exhaled through his nose. She wasn’t just a barista. She was the designer, the manager, the CEO, the owner. She was so many people at once, no label could fit her.
“I’m already your number one customer. Let me be the number one in all other areas.”
“You think you can?”
He turned his torso towards her and placed his other hand on top of hers. The usual seriousness in his face had a tinge of sadness.
“I promise.” His voice was coarse, like he was holding back tears, and she found it comforting. Not that he could break, but that he also could hold pain inside of him.
Mi Ran leaned forward, and they melted into a hug. They held each other tightly, her head under his chin, her fingers clinging to his coat.
The sound of the crashing waves wasn’t as deafening as their beating hearts. The air tasted saltier, like tears rolling down lips. Maybe it was the sea welcoming them, or bidding farewell to everything they had lived up to that point.
Later, when they left, the tide licked slowly at their footprints, like wanting to preserve their presence.

fuck it. be creative even if you never really *make* anything. write out plot synopses of stories and then move on. design OCs you'll never use. make mood boards and concept art and don't do anything with them. life's too short to forget everything that inspired you and creation doesn't have to be "complete" to be worth the time you put into it.
When Luke’s skin brushed against Reggie’s, one word floated in his mind: zesty.
Reggie wasn’t sure how he had come across it or even remembered it. All he knew was that it was perfect to describe Luke — the vibrancy of his gaze, how quick he was to smile, and how his skin smelled of citrus.
How could Luke be the embodiment of a sunny day spent outdoors?
Something shifted inside Reggie, an impulse to sink his teeth and tongue onto Luke’s skin. He controlled himself, not in fear of being hated, but because of what Luke accepting him would do.
Title: Human
Pairing: Xavier Yeh | Loveboat in Taipei & Loveboat Reunion
CWs: Xavier centric, implied Xavier x Sophie, University AU, takes place after Loveboat Reunion
Rating: Teen
Summary: What if Xavier went to University for Art?
Word count: 492
A/N: I've almost finished reading Loveboat Reunion and I don't want it to end ;-;
flufftober prompt: “What are you wearing?” “It’s laundry day!”
When Xavier closes the door of his room, he’s pressing his new sketchbook against a semi-crumpled shirt, the most formal one he brought to campus. He wanted the whole university experience, at least the first year. He didn’t want to stand out more than necessary, he wanted to blend in with the crowd. The private apartment would come next year, and Sophie could come hang out.
“Hey, Xavier.” Someone he shares a class with — probably painting or sculpting— waves at him from across the hallway. “What are you wearing?”
He looks down at his silvery-lilac pants and the powder-white shirt like he doesn’t understand the question, when it’s obvious, it’s right there for them to see. Then something twitches in his gaze, like he’s seeing the outfit for the first time, like someone else chose it for him and dressed him. Like he forgot he owned something like it, and he looked fabulous in it.
“It’s laundry day!” Xavier replies, and even if his tone is relaxed, the big goofy smile on his face as he looks back to his interlocutor manages to uplift his voice.
It’s the fit Magic Mirror showed him, the one he ended wearing for that incredibly long night where so much changed. But at the same time, they are simply clothes too formal for him to enjoy wearing every single day. It has so much meaning that it’s heavy, although Xavier isn’t the type to want to preserve something out of fear that it will be worn down.
“I thought you had a very special date today!” They give him a significant look, although Xavier cannot quite make out what it means. Do they know about Sophie? Is there anything he is forgetting? No, he isn’t that close with his classmates for them to know more about his private life than he does. “I see you like risking it with laundry.”
“What can I say, I am not afraid of danger.” He shrugs, enjoying the little zap of connection that sharing a joke with someone gives him. “Maybe I’m just lazy.”
The word tumbles from his lips faster than he can process it, and for a second a chill licks at his spine.
“You mean you’re human? I’m barely feeding myself while keeping up with assignments.” They tilt their head back, making a face that contains all the exhaustion the past few weeks are packing. “See you.” With a small nod, they open their room door and disappear behind it.
Human. The word bounces off Xavier’s mind, and for a few moments, he entertains the idea of colouring it. He has felt like he had to earn so much, like he was always subpar. The concept of his weakness, his flaws, proving that he’s human, seems rebellious to him. He licks his lower lip like he’s savouring this new realisation. He makes a mental note to talk to that classmate again. They may be onto something important.

the title is based on the song "Dañamos la amistad" by Karol G. When I listened to it, I just thought of them and ideas started flowing.
(very rough WIP draft + song under the cut)
Luke leaves early for university/his agent program and ends up seeing Rosa after a year, right after missing her graduation from high school while he was on a mission. So they decide to have their own little prom, and go clubbing, and then they end up getting drunk for the first time, too.
They start talking about people they met – Rosa, a new student on the grade, or people at the cram school – and Luke talks about university classmates and people he met during missions. And so they start telling each other what their type is, what they like, etc. First, as part of being super close, like best friends. But then, it starts turning into something they use to try to elicit jealousy from the other – hence their feelings for each other change from something completely platonic, to something more.
....and intro the song (with eng translation)
I haven't thought about how spicy I want to make things, but it would be on the suggestive side. (But I haven't been in the mood to write spice for a while...)
#6 on the ask wip game is a mouthful, but I am instantly intrigued.
Hi Scorchie <3 thank you for the ask!!
So back when I was first reading Rio's route, I happened to listen to the song "Opening Sequence" by Tomorrow x Together (kpop group) and there were some lyrics that particularly jumped out: "dance with me" and "I'm bleeding painfully".
(song + WIP under the cut!)
For some reason the "bleeding" reminded me of how Rio and Emma first met, and the "dance with me" made me imagine them dancing at a ballroom.
Here's what I wrote:
Emma is a noblewoman who gets invited to social events a lot. She’s also started attending events at the Royal Palace. Rio works as his knight – he is the servant son of the family that has worked for them for generations. They always had a friendship, but lately, their social positions have become more apparent, making them feel distant.
“Even if I get married away to another person, promise you’ll always be next to me, protecting me?”
“Promise.”
They never tried to fight their fate, since they knew they could stay together as friends – maybe even as unrequited lovers. Nothing could stop their feelings.
But when Rio sees that future threatened by the possibility that Emma could develop real romantic feelings for the man she ends up marrying, he starts rebelling.
“Will you allow me this dance, my lady?”
“Rio, what are you—”
“I believe I can be as good a dance partner as anyone else.”
“When did you learn?”
“Dance isn’t that different from training to fight.”
“Oh, I believe it is. Isn’t it about conveying your feelings for the person?”
“And fighting is about protecting the person you have feelings for.”
Emma blinked, trying to decipher if he was referring to himself or just teasing her.
“Have my feelings been conveyed, my lady?”
.
.
:)
I'm not comfortable writing historical settings, but I still like the idea a lot :c I always liked lady x knight stories, and even though I love Rio's route, a part of me wished he had simply stayed her attendant and friend.

Title: Rooftop
Pairing: Hajime Umemiya x reader | Wind Breaker
Rating: M
CWs: fluff, tooth-rotting fluff, established relationship, suggestive memories and heavy flirting, aged-up Umemiya, canon divergent, AU, teacher!Umemiya, reader-insert, Umemiya calls you "princess" once but there are no gender mentions, second person pov
Summary: Umemiya finally has time to spend on his crops, and you accompany him on a summery Sunday morning.
Word count: 1k
A/N: I never would’ve guessed I’d like Wind Breaker but here I am, obsessed…
A quick sweat drop slides down Umemiya’s temple, but he is too busy weeding to notice. He keeps his crops healthy, but the summer holiday has involved much more work than anticipated. So now that it’s a Sunday and he has finally advanced enough in his tasks, he is taking a much-needed breather on the rooftop.
You are sitting down in the shade, under the same pergola Umemiya built during his high school days. Now that he is a teacher in his alma mater, you can’t help but daydream about the magnificent projects he must be building now, too.
“Babe, come see the peppers!” His voice carries well in the open air, strong and solid, yet cheerful. How does he look when he’s teaching? You walk towards him and wonder if the troublesome teens who seek refuge in Fuurin find shelter in his strict yet loving personality. “We can have some tonight!” The excitement seeps through the wrinkles that are forming around his eyes.
Crouching down next to him, you observe how he harvests the green peppers with the ease that comes with experience. There’s a blinding smile on his slightly tanned face, and suddenly you feel you can exhale more deeply. Maybe Umemiya is right after all. Maybe the answer to finding more joy is all in cultivating your own food.
When he finally puts the basket down, he turns towards you and quickly leans in to peck you on the cheek.
“Ume-sensei, how dare you break the rules like this?” You feign surprise. “You are a model for the students!”
The relaxed smile is almost teasing on his lips, and you can’t tell if he’s amused by your performance, or if he simply enjoyed the surprise kiss. “I couldn’t resist.”
“You’re trying to tell me that, surrounded by all your beautiful and luscious plants, you’re getting distracted by me? Pssh—”
“Always,” he interrupts. “I can’t wait to go home and eat these peppers. And then eat you, too.” You hit his arm before he can think of winking. “What? You know it’s true.”
The glimmer in his eyes tells you he is up to no good, and before you can think about it further, Umemiya moves and sinks his teeth into your exposed shoulder. It’s a light bite and he lets go quickly, but not without caressing your skin with his lips.
“Is this why you were happy I wore a tank top today?” You look at him with half-lidded eyes. He simply shrugs, and the gesture seems to make him look younger. “Get ready for revenge when we get home.”
“You know I love having your marks all over me.” Umemiya’s confident words make memories float in your mind’s eye. His bare torso covered in love bites. That one time you left lipstick stains all over his face and he insisted on not wiping it off until bedtime. How he went as far as teasing you about placing a mirror next to the bed. Recalling that time makes you even more aware of how hot it is on the rooftop. “Do you want a cold treat to freshen you up, princess?” As if he read your mind, he starts walking away into the shade under the pergola.
You follow him and once you’re sat down on one of the cushions, you realise there is a small cooler you’ve never seen before. He opens it and hands you two popsicles.
“Choose the one you prefer. I’ll wrap up quickly.” Before he has even finished the sentence, he runs to finish taking care of his beloved crops and tidy up.
You unwrap one of them and sigh as you feel the ice melting and cooling your tongue. Observing Umemiya’s swift actions, you unwrap the other one when he’s approaching you and hand it to him.
He takes your hand and takes a bite off the popsicle, making some ice break into smaller pieces and fall on your hand.
“You’re making a mess, Ume!” You laugh as you see a watery drop sliding down his chin. “Take the popsicle already.” He obliges, but before you can pull away your hand, he takes it with his free hand and licks off the remaining bits of ice. “You didn’t bring tissues, did you?”
“We don’t need them.” You roll your eyes at the goofy smile he’s giving you.
You finish the treats when a soft breeze starts greeting the greenery. As you get up and face away from him, Umemiya suddenly gets a wicked idea.
“Eep!” You yelp the moment you feel a wet and cold sensation on your exposed nape. Turning around quickly, you see Umemiya licking his lips. “Did you just lick me?”
“My tongue’s still cold, right?” The smile he has plastered all over his face is even bigger than before. You pout and use the popsicle stick to boop him on the nose. He quickly moves his head and bites it, preventing you from hitting him again.
“What’s going on?” You inquire, arching an eyebrow. Umemiya can be playful, but even if it’s the weekend, you’re still at his workplace.
“I told you, didn’t I? You’re always on my mind.”
You quickly turn around to make sure the rooftop is as empty as when you two came in. Then, before Umemiya can react, you place a soft kiss on the corner of his mouth.
“Payback,” you whisper, and giggling, you turn around and start running towards the door. It takes Umemiya a few seconds to process what you just did, seconds in which his mouth opens slightly, and the popsicle stick he had bitten off your hand falls to the floor.
“Payback…?” He mutters, the word activating something inside his brain. Scrambling to pick the stick up the floor, and grabbing the cooler, he starts running after you. “I’ll give you payback!”
Your laughter mixes and dissolves in the summer air, and for a second, his beloved plants shine brighter and healthier than ever.
