Due to the fact that jp octos have different names (Tako and takozoness) I believe that “takozoness” octolings might be some type of clone solder, possibly lower class than regular octos, and only the lower level soldiers were ever sent against agent 3 and 4.

@al-xks ‘tako’ is just the japananese word for octopus, and ‘takozon’ is a combination of that word and ‘amazon’ as they’re an all-female fighting force in splatoon 1. i’m not sure where you are getting just ‘tako’ as a name for them. or why you would assume only low-level soldiers were sent against the agents. you fight ‘elite’ octolings after all. they’re all clones.

I don't think that's necessarily indicative of them being different types of Octolings. It's probably just an abbreviation, or the developers thought it would be confusing to refer to the male octoling as a takozon.
