*alarm bells* long post
yeah so i should get off the internet. been reading about the years-long predicted second great depression (forecasted in 2030's*)...
Learn how your business can prepare for the 2030s Great Depression that ITR Economics is forecasting.
and then there's this chilling analysis of the last several decades and the inevitable(?) conclusion:
Those who remember my WordPress blog in the 2000s and 2010s will have to forgive me for repetition.
*not to be cynical *they said cynically* but when your livelihood depends on keeping people investing until juuuuuust after you sell all your investments and the stocks crash...well, it pays to make sure people are sufficiently confident that they keep investing right up to the day you sell. which they won't do if** they are overconfident right up until the crash. not saying anyone is misrepresenting facts, just...the incentive to do so is there.
**some people are gonna be overconfident no matter what, but a wary, cynical, cash-strapped, and AWARE population is gonna be less likely to fall for that particular trap
i don't have an out except unions and ending union busting and massive strikes (and, dear god, just that will be bad enough; forget the revolution people justifiably want and aren't getting (so far))
like literally the only fix is to break capitalism with a solution rather than waiting for it to break and scrambling in the resulting depression
y'all. whole towns were disappearing years before the 1929 stock market collapse that finally woke the capital-owners up. whole towns. for years.
i don't know. if your town is dying go to your capital (state/country whatever) and make yourself a nuisance? and if you're IN the capital SUPPORT the people pouring in. oh. i need to be stockpiling bottled water for people passing through to the nearby capital...aaah i have no money*** ***i am fine except for the fact that nothing is fine and the fire is (metaphorically) just getting bigger
god god god it's going to be awful (Church from the second link makes a compelling point that the increasing rise of fascism could be a reaction to capitalism's decline). i mean it's already goddamn awful but if the pressure NOW isn't enough what will the breaking point be?
fuck it let's address the elephants' graveyard and the chained elephants in the room next door and the ossuaries overflowing with elephant bones while we're at it: racism.
it has been at least this bad for BIPOC people for years upon years. how many Black men and boys and women and girls killed for less than nothing? how many immigrants murdered via torture or neglect? how many indigenous people relegated to poverty, gone "missing," and openly murdered? two white people this january, though, THAT'S unacceptable. shame on the people who outright say *they no longer support even us, their base of power (you know, the elephant's killer, white supremacy)*. like. just say the quiet part out loud. they killed white people and THAT'S egregrious.
the quiet part out loud: do we need race wars to break out to force change?
not to say that i want to see violence! but like...i dunno, white people step up, i guess. stop allying with the status quo and white supremacy and the lie that the wealth will trickle down, start defending our Black and brown siblings.
god i'm like a bad recording of a bible. remember that defending the least of us is defending all of us.
