21 for Scout and 24 for engineer or solly?

(Under a cut because I went overboard for the first ask (and did 24 for both Engie and Solly!))

Scout for 21; their fondest childhood memory

I’ve actually been meaning to write a fic with this scene in my head, so thank you for making me so excited to share this idea since I don’t have the time to write a full fic for this!

When Scout was thirteen years old, he was struggling with a lot of teenage angst, body dysphoria (because I HC him as trans and no one can stop me), and general frustration with his lot in life, so he spent a lot of time trying to be on his own and away from his family members, which was easier said than done, seeing as his brothers were often running wild all around Boston and were hard to avoid, while his ma was almost always home if she wasn’t working, and she often wanted to hang out with Scout when they were home together.

However, one thing that Scout found time to do away from his family was to play baseball right on the edge of town, where there were a lot of old buildings and empty fields. One time while playing though, he accidentally swung his bat too hard, and sent a baseball soaring through a nearby window. Even more unfortunate was the fact that, despite the building looking abandoned, it was owned by a city official, who just so happened to be there when the accident happened. The guy absolutely lit into Scout once he had him by the arm (which he squeezed way too tightly), going so far as to scream at him, call him a reckless idiot of a kid, suggest he was raised in a barn, etc. Poor Scout was in tears, and tried explaining himself/apologizing, but he couldn’t really be understood through all his bawling.

Just as the building’s owner was ready to drag Scout to the nearest police station, all while ignoring Scout begging him not to since his ma didn’t have enough money to pay for the window, a tall, well-dressed man came striding over from out of nowhere, and without so much as a word to Scout, he had the kid by the other arm (very gently, oddly enough) and told the first man that he was Scout’s father, and that his son hadn’t broken the window, and that it was in fact some other teenagers who had run off and left Scout to take the fall for it. Surprisingly enough, the city official believed him, and after apologizing to the supposedly father and son duo, he went on his way. For a few minutes, Scout was scared that this new stranger would beat him senseless, but instead the man asked if he was okay. After confirming that he was, Scout was then taken to a local diner by the stranger for lunch, the man claiming that he knew Scout’s ma and that it was okay with her.

Scout was uncertain at first, but seeing as the stranger had saved him, he agreed to go with him, and the two had a nice lunch together, the stranger letting Scout infodump about his interests for an hour or so (something he never got to do, seeing as his older brothers usually controlled a majority of their conversations), before he took the kid home. Afterwards, Scout insisted on bringing the guy to see his ma, but once his ma answered the door, Scout turned around and saw that the man was now gone. Scout ended up telling his ma that a stranger helped him out (leaving out the bit about the broken window), and at first his ma looked like she was going to scold him for trusting a stranger, but upon looking up and seeing something behind the kid that Scout couldn’t see, she smiled and said that he must have an angel watching over him.

Years later and Scout still has no idea that the guy was Spy, and his dad intends on keeping it that way; he doesn’t want to risk ruining that memory for him.

Engineer for 24; what they wish they could change about themselves

In all honesty, I think Engineer is one of those guys that’s pretty satisfied with who he is as a person, but if he could change two things, he’d want to be taller (he’s sick of the short jokes), and he’d want to be more energetic, since he feels like he can’t keep up with the younger mercs on his team.

This dude is completely convinced he’s a great American superhero of some sort, so he doesn’t think he needs to do any self-help or make changes to himself. (Secretly though, he wishes he could pay better attention to what his teammates are trying to explain to him, and he low-key wishes he wasn’t so quick to anger, but alas, he feels like he can’t change himself.)

i actually kinda made a post like this one near the beginning of the blog?? (it's this one if yr curious) but it's old and i'll gladly write up some more >:0 (some of these may b repeats bc i really like em lol)

things engie notices about medic:

- he has the tendency to hum softly under his breath sometimes

- he chews on his bottom lip or runs his tounge over over one of his incisors when he's thinking for a long time

- his laugh is one of the loudest things about him (and honestly he loves it)

- he makes makes specific noises in response to specific things (when he's startled, when he's trying to get someone's attention, when something's unpleasant, etc)

- he usually writes in a modfied doctor's shorthand that is practically impossible for anyone to read except him bc he's the only one who knows doctor's shorthand

- if he's asked to write in regular script it's actually just a weird mashup of script and cursive

- if he eats anything dipped in chocolate (or really anything with a coating) he almost always bites the chocolate off first before eating everything else

- when reading books he never uses a bookmark, just any random scrap of paper he has on hand

- he's grown pretty accustomed to pronouncing english words but he still to trips up on some words with w's or words with multiple r's + l's (do not ask him to say 'red lorry yellow lorry'. he can say it now but he will be furious.)

- he usually smells like disinfectant, copper, and some sort of flowery/fancy hand soap (lavender he thinks? he can't really tell but it's Nice)

things medic notices about engie:

- his smile tends to go lopsided if he's really happy

- he's always chewing on Something. gum, pen caps, random bits of plastic, his own thumb sometimes

- he doesn't like it when anything touches his neck. ANYTHING. it makes him super uncomfortable and he'll visibly flinch if somebody's hand is too close to it

- he leaves dozens post it notes and markers all over his own notes/schematics, all of them in beautiful cursive with the worst shorthand in the world (that he is very proud to say he can read)

- he draws litte circles over all of his i's and j's instead of just dotting them

- the edges of his eyes crinkle a little when he laughs

- he tends to lean into people's touch if he's feeling especially Not Great

- he mostly eyeballs recipes instead of actually following recipe measurement by measurement (not that he complains ofc, his food is always 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 no matter what)

- he has the slightest 'sh'/'ch'/'zh' lisp. it is Very slight. if you didn't know he had it, you'd probably need to hear him say a word several times before you realize something is off

- he usually smells like lemons/sweet tea and motor oil. the former because he makes and drinks A Lot of it (there's almost always a pitcher full of both in the fridge at all times)

Hell fucking yes you can!

Since Knight is the team’s second tank, he really oughta stay with the group for team assaults, but... well, Scout is very convincing when he wants to be (aka he can get whatever he wants from Knight if he asks for it), so Knight often follows Scout into enemy territory to grab intelligence while covering for him. Sometimes this can go well, but not always (it goes a hell of a lot better if Medic or Pyro comes along, too).

Knight is a pretty versatile class, being able to take a little more than average damage, while having decent damage output, so he can choose to go either way during a match (he usually goes on the offensive). His main targets are enemy Soldiers, Medics, and Engineers, since he can be a decent counter to all of them (he has a small shield that can parry Soldier’s rockets if swung at the right time, he can squash Medics if he corners them, and he can eat up a lot of a turret’s damage before destroying it with his morning star). Unfortunately, Knight is easily distracted at times, so he’ll sometimes get side-tracked with fighting the enemy team’s Heavy/Knight or running after a Scout.

I still kinda want to work on Knight’s actual playstyle and abilities at some point, but I really oughta learn more about the actual game first... oh well, I hope you enjoyed my dumb rambling!
