THANK YOU AND SORRY
The younger Cale had told his father what he wanted to say; there will be war and therefore, they should fortify their defense in territory and prepare their counter attack by building up a naval base. He can see how astonished his father is as he explains it with such a serious tone, something that the trash didn't do for a long, long time as they even very rarely converse to each other.
Honestly, Cale didn't feel confident his father would believe him. After running away from home a week ago than coming back from nowhere, after all the trash things he did in the past, what he was saying just now felt unreal even for himself. But still, he too feels desperate. Their home will get attacked. There is no one who can guarantee everybody will be saved. Cale needs to do this even if it means he should beg his father to embodied it.
"My son... how can you know about something like this?" Cale could see his father's eyes shaking. But Cale didn't answer that question because they had made a deal to not reveal the two from another world just to anyone. Even if they join war later, they will hide the fact that they are the existence that shouldn't be here.
Cale didn't know why, but he felt something clucthing in his heart. It makes it very hard for him to breath and he can't stare at the face of his loved one after his mom. Deep down, he knew, the anxiety that his father would reject and not believe him was the reason for it. It's understandable, but still, surely makes him hurt.
Deruth closed his eyes tightly before he stared at the young man who avoided his own father's eyes. He didn't know how he could believe this unbelievable matter. But—his son, the one who he knew wouldn't want to talk to him except if necessary; the one he knew never visited his mother's grave ever after the funeral as if the wound from the lost still did not heal; that one of his sons is now trying to tell him to protect their territory in front of his mother's grave— He can't believe it. But Deruth wants to believe his son.
So he reached his son's hands and made the reddish brown eyes gaze towards him again. "Son, this is a very serious matter." Deruth stroke his son's hand. It was the same pale as his wife's hands, but much more sturdy and big. Since when... since when did his son grow this big? He can feel the agony attacking him; the regret because he never tried to reach this hands properly before. But he continued, "Let's talk about it in my room." He saw the red strand that resembled his wife's and smiled. "Let's go home first."
Cale flinched. Home. Deruth says that Henituse estate is his home too. He breathed heavily but tried to push his feelings and wrap it up just like he usually does. He then nodded slowly before letting his hand from his father's stroke. Cale turned back to the place his older self was standing before, even if there was no trace of them left there. He can't just let them here when he is in Hanituse estate. "I think it's okay to be visible now. It will be much easier to let him know about all of you."
Deruth was confused because of his son's action, but he flinched when there was a human and three other creatures that suddenly appeared at the place his son turned to. But there is something that really makes him astonished. Is that... a reptile? That reptile has a pair of wings and black scale; and before he knew, that creatures just flew fast to in front of him and chimmed, "Hello, human's father!!" Before he could think about anything, there were two other creatures that he recognized as cats rushing towards him before they chimmed, "It's Cale's father! Nice to meet you!"
Cale sighed when he saw his father fall into his butt because he felt surprised. He then turned to his older self that was now hiding his hair in a cloak, but Cale can see that the man's hair is now brown in colour. That man certainly asked the dragon to change his hair colour. At least, it will make anyone without any skill in magic not know about this disguise.
After making his father calm down and introduce his companions to him, console his father that this dragon as well as beast people are on his side, they are going to Henituse estate. It was such a fuss commotion because everyone in Henituse estate knew about the running away young master. But fortunately, his father can make it more bearable after stating that they should talk right now. The older self of him and the children follow him in an invisible state again.
"Let's do that." Cale blinked as he heard his father say when they had just entered his father's office. His father continued, "I had thought about it. Maybe this is a good time to fortify our defense. It's not like we are going to lose too, if what you said will not happen." Deruth frowning as he thought about the matters his son told him. But then, his expression became soft again when he gazed towards his son, "And I want to trust you and what you had said."
Cale opened his mouth then closed it again. He didn't know how to react to what his father said. It's just... felt weird. They never had this kind of conversation for such a long time, so Cale felt awkward. Cale ended up mentioning all things that his father should know about the naval base in Ubar territory just like his older self told him before.
After they finished talking about urgent matters, Deruth tells Cale to rest in his bedroom. As for his friend, there will be a room prepared for him. Cale asked his father if he could bring Molans and a knight named Choi Han to his chamber and his father agreed after making a confused expression again. But this time, his father didn't ask further and let Cale out so he could rest. They were about to get out of his father's room, but Cale stopped in front of the door. He closed his eyes and hesitated for a moment. After taking a breath, he finally turned to his father again. "Thank you." Cale didn't even stare at his father's face, "Thank you for trusting me."
Deruth eyes shaking and watering a bit. If—if he didn't see Cale today, maybe their relationship would be more distant without Deruth even realizing. If he didn't want to visit his wife's grave today, he would not have a chance to make up with his son. He was too cowardly to reach his son first all this time. But he firm his result, as the chance had already been in front of him right now, he would not let it just be. "You see, Cale. I have a lot of things I should be sorry to you. There are too many things I should have done for a long time. I'm really, really sorry to let you just be all this time."
Deruth wipes his tears and reaches his son's hands again. "I hope you will let me make up what had happened all this time. I hope we can go back to the old times." He saw his son finally staring back at him with shaky eyes. It hurt to see this side of his son. It hurt more when he thought about all the pain his son had gone through all this time. Alone. But he let out his son's hands. He can feel his own hands shaking. "But let's talk about it later. You look very tired already. Have a good rest, my son."
THE MEANING OF NAME AND IDENTITY
Cale goes back to his room where he has left for a week. It was still as clean as ever when he scanned his surroundings. The children, however, rushed towards his bed after he closed the door and the black dragon cast off the invisible magic. "Woahhh, is this our second home, human?!" The dragon flying in circle in the room before joining the kittens jumping in his bed with a very cheerful expression. Cale sighed and slowly nodded. He didn't know why, but the children didn't want to have their own room and chose to sleep with him. But it's not like Cale hates it. Their presence is warm too to his liking. So Cale just let them be.
The older self of him comes to his room after taking a bath, and sure he is too. Unfortunately, he can't have a drink while having dinner today because there are children joining. They had dinner in Cale's room and then waited for the guests they should talk with. Cale tells the children to go to sleep first and asks the black dragon to make them invisible again. Not long after that, the guests came in.
"I'm relieved you are healthy and able to come back alive, young master-nim." The head of Molan family greeted him with a benign smile, but after his older self had explained to him that this old man was a professional assassin, he couldn't think about this greeting as a welcome one. Ron is one of a few servants that is still on his side even in his rebellion phase, but it seems that Cale never knew the true nature of this old man; neither his son that chose to shut himself with an expressionless face besides his father.
As Cale didn't want to play dumb and be the stupid young master again, he answered Ron greet as relaxed as possible; his lips formed a smile and he sipped his tea elegantly. "It's thanks to you, Ron. Thank you for worrying about me." He can see a glint in their eyes. It's their first time seeing this side of him after all. But Cale sighed, he peaked at his older self that was just observing the situation without saying anything. And he could feel the two Molans wary of this existence just with their way glancing at the older Cale. Cale added, "But unfortunately, Ron, I can't talk much about my gratitude towards you now as I have much more urgent matters I should tell you."
Ron just continued to smile, but Cale could feel this smile was like the smile someone would give when they saw an amusing scene from a creature that was lower than them; humiliating and mocking, while his son was just frowning with his mouth still shut tightly. "What's the matter, young master-nim? This old Ron will try his best so he can help what the young master needs." That smile was genuine, but his eyes became sharp as he now realized the change of his young master. Cale didn't answer immediately. He waited for someone to knock on the door of his bedroom and smiled when it finally happened.
"Come in." Cale smiled towards the young man that was in front of his door—or should he say an old man because this man is just older than Ron despite his younger look? The man didn't hesitate and came into his room without any expression left. But after Choi Han eyes met the Molans, Cale can see there are unpleasant things going on between them.
"Now that everyone has finally gathered, I will just go to the point." Cale's eyes met theirs as they sat opposite each other. "I need all of your strength." He began. The explanation that he had arranged in his brain now is like a book he just needed to read. He felt more relaxed as he adjusted to this kind of atmosphere after meeting his older self two days ago. "Harris Village. The one who attacks that village, we need to get rid of them."
Cale could see Choi Han's eyes shaking when he mentioned Harris Village while the Molans still didn't react because they waited for further explanation, "The one who attacked them is a secret organization called Arm; the same organization that attacked Molan Household years ago." Ron's lips couldn't maintain the benign smile as he was very surprised and Baecrox's eyes shook repeatedly. It's silent. Cale chooses to let them swallow the information he gave first, so there is a silent with intense atmosphere until the black haired man cracks the silent, "How ... did you know that?"
"Does it really matter?" Cale pulled up one of his eyebrows before he added, "What really matters is, the same organization will ruin more villages, kill more people and make everyone suffer from prolonged war." Cale stopped a bit. His eyes stared back at the black eyes, "There will be lots of people gone through your suffering for losing their loved one." His older self had told him. Choi Han is a kind person. Therefore, it's a good thing to mention that kind of state, even if he already knew the idea of revenging to the one who killed his family in Harris Village had made him certainly decide to help Cale.
"Is the one who told you that this man, young master-nim?" Before Cale even realized, Ron had gone from his seat and stood behind his older figure. The sharp dagger pointed towards his throat as the old man smiled with a sharp gaze. "If it is, then this old Ron recommended young master to be aware of this man first. Who knows that this man may be their subordinate?"
Cale flinched. He never thought Ron this fast and would act this wild. His gaze turned toward his older self, but he just found the same calm looks permanently in that man's face. The older Cale didn't even flinch. He just sat there without moving with a sharp dagger now touching his skin. "Ron, stop there." Cale can feel his voice cracked. It makes him hurt. He knew that Ron and Cale in another world were still in good terms when the older Cale mentioned them. And now, the one with the same look as his trusted one pointing a dagger toward his throat. How hurt can he be?
Unfortunately, this time Ron decided not to hear his order. Ron's eyes focused toward the older Cale as that man finally moved his head and looked up, so the two of them stared at each other now. The older Cale didn't care as he moved a bit, the dagger poked deeper and now made blood come out from his skin. He finally said something for the first time after the three of them came to this room, "That's good." The older Cale eyes unwavering staring at the predator's eyes, "You should be aware to everyone that can hurt your young master."
Cale felt baffled. In this kind of situation, does his older self choose to say that? Sometimes, he didn't know what was going on in his older head. But the two of the still staring without one gave in, "I definitely seem suspicious so you are not wrong." It's very short but Cale saw the sad glint in his eyes, but it disappeared as fast as it emerged, "But you should be careful too, because you definitely will regret your decision if you kill me now and lose all the important information you needed." The older Cale chuckled, "Or what is it? Did your hatred towards them disappear as you get older?"
Cale can feel the atmosphere getting more intense, so he immediately interrupts their interaction again, "Ron Molan. Follow my order and let out your dagger from him. Now." Ron finally let out his dagger and smiling with benign as if nothing had happened before, "Sure, young master-nim. Whatever you say." And after that, he returned to his seat.
Cale sighed as he massaged his temple. His hand reached toward the tissue on the table and gave it to his older self. It's frustrating, really. And most of it is because he didn't know how to make this situation better for his older self. He is someone who can't even state his identity or name as it will make everything much more complicated. He is someone—existance, that shouldn't be here. He gets dragged here, gets tired of making this world have a better future, but what he gets as payment is this kind of treat. It makes Cale hurt even just to see it.
Cale looks towards Molans and Choi Han. He felt more stressed now, but he tried to stay composed. He let out a heavy breath and calmed down himself before saying, "I can guarantee he is a valuable and trustworthy person. But if you couldn't trust him, then sure. Just treat this conversation never happened." Cale's eyes sharpened toward Ron. "I ask for help, but I will not let all of you just treat my people like that. All of you can go now. Think hard before telling me what your choices are about what I asked."
Molans get out first, left out the black haired man that looks absent minded and still thinking hard. That man finally talked after a few minutes passed in silence, "I really can take my revenge toward them, right?" Cale shrugged his shoulder, "As much as you want." Choi Han's eyes shook and he shut his eyes tightly before bowing toward him. "I didn't need more time to think. Let me join so I can get rid of all those bastards."
Cale smiled. And tell Choi Han that it's a good decision before Cale lets him out of the room. About Choi Han's duty as knight, it will be Cale's business to tell his father to let that man move to be his personal knight or whatever. As the silence comes again after there are just the two of them and the children sleeping in the bed, he can hear the older Cale's voice. "You are too emotional. I'm fine. I have Vitality of Heart too, you know."
Cale rolling his eyes out of frustration. This man didn't have a sense of values in life, he was certain. The older Cale just keeps helping everyone but pushing himself to the edge without ever concerning his own well being. Cale could tell how frustrated that man's companions in another world are because of all the older Cale deed. He finally just cuss to his older figure, "Shut up. I don't want to hear that, especially from you."
THE MEANING OF NAME AND IDENTITY PT. 2
It stings. Is it because the pointed dagger that was poked deep in his throat just now? Yes, maybe. But deep down, he knew too that's not the main reason. And sure the younger self of him knew too because he could see how frustrated the younger Cale was as he saw Ron pointing that sharp thing into his young master from another world.
No. Cale, who is transmigrated to this world, is nobody. He can't reveal his identity or name. He is nobody and therefore there is no one who recognized him even if he is in Henituse Estate; his home. It's quite unpleasant. The room where he stayed surely felt much colder. And without the children's cheering voice every now and then in his ears after all the years they had gone through together, it felt weird. Everything felt weird. And at some point, he felt very tired despite what he did just passive things while guiding himself from this world.
Cale found himself wanting to complete his task as fast as possible and go home. Toward the world where everyone knows him and recognizes him as their family. This feeling is weird too, Cale supposed. Because this is the first time he felt like this.
Despite all the thoughts in his head, he was grateful that he could maintain his expression. And the sentences that came out from his mouth just like bullshit without meaning, "You are too emotional. I'm fine. I have Vitality of Heart too, you know." It's like he was telling himself who had a chaotic mind to not think too much or drive his emotion into this situation. And therefore, he should think about it with a calm and cold brain.
The room was filled with silence again after the younger Cale shut him up. He had just thought about returning to his room, but his younger self faster talking to him, "Don't go out. We still have things to discuss." Cale pulled up one of his eyebrows as if asking what the younger self of him meant. After all, he knew all things had settled up for today.
He could see the younger self of him peaked toward the bed. It's invisible right now, but there are three bundles that make his bed sheet wrinkled in certain areas. The younger Cale then stared at him again, "The black dragon. It's you who gave it name in your world, right?"
Cale shut up for a moment. He could tell what his younger self would do if he said it, so he shook his head and said, "You should name it yourself, you know. I think the dragon would like anything you gave it." Cale could see his younger self rolling his eyes again. As if he had fed up with this conversation and just wanted to end it as fast as possible so he could rest, which is most likely to be true because they have been busy for the last two days. "Just say it. I want to know."
Cale sipped his tea that had gotten cold because he let it in the air without drinking it for a long time. He can see his reflection in the tea and his head playing recorder to the scene when he first tells the young black dragon the name he gave. It's quite a beautiful night, he supposed. Cale smiled a bit and mumbled, so the younger self beside him is the only one who can hear it, "It's Raon Miru."
Cale can see his younger self asking with his eyes. After all, that name wasn't from the language in this world. So Cale explained more, "It means joyful dragon. I hope he can be a dragon that lives with joy after what happened in its past." The younger self of Cale formed a wide smile. His hands touched the cold ceramic that contained his leftover tea before he nodded, "That's a good name, I suppose. Though you are awfully emotional this time, huh."
Cale huffed, but didn't deny that fact. "Not as much as you did today." The younger Cale sighed as if all the scenes from today were playing in his head. His hands reached toward the blushed face because of embarrassment before he mumbled with disgusted tone, "And who should I blame for this?" Cale smirked. This younger Cale is definitely cute. He felt a bit happy that this original Cale could make a different path from the now Kim Rok Soo, so he answered jokingly, "Definitely not me."
HYUNG'S DUTY IS TO COMFORT THEIR DONGSAENG
Cale isn't a morning person in years after he possessed this body. But in this world, he can't just relax when every second is very precious. He finds it difficult when there is no one who will wake him up when he needs it. There are no three bundles that warm him up anytime, or sour lemon tea to start his day. Cale should have felt happy about that, but it turned out to be rather lonely. He felt like he was back in time when he was Kim Rok Soo before. He should work with bare minimum sleep because of the duty as strategist to his team and stay in a small house alone without letting someone into his life.
Even with all those things in his mind, he headed toward the younger Cale's bedroom when it was already time for him and the younger Cale to meet Alberus. The children are joyful as always and it makes him wonder how the children in his world are going without him.
Cale sat himself on the couch and then let his mind run wild while waiting for Alberu from this world and his hyung to come. It looks like this is the first time Cale can do his hobby of not doing anything and spacing out in this world. He didn't know how long he did it, but when he realized, he felt warm hands pat him without permission. Cale frowned and looked up and found his hyung was the one who did it. Cale didn't know why his hyung suddenly did this, so he instantly asked, "What is it, Hyung?"
Cale tried to avoid that big and warm hand but always failed. His hyung sure is more stubborn than he ever thought. And surely, he is baffled because that man can guess what Cale thought about their world just with a glance—sure, calling it homesick is too much in Cale's opinion. But still, it's amazing. Now that he thinks about it, they often have the same train of thinking. Knew Alberu would not give up even after Cale told him to stop, he decided to let the man do what he wanted to do. Now that man even placed himself sitting beside Cale without stopping his hand patting Cale's head.
They had meals together and will separate again at noon. But before that, they let themselves have a bit of rest in the younger Cale's bedroom. And Cale found his hyung, the Emperor in Roan Empire still sitting beside him and playing with his hair again—without permission. Cale sighed. He mumbled protest even if he had given up to avoid that man's hands, "Just why do you like playing with my hair, hyung."
"I wonder about that too." He heard Alberu mumbling softly as if the man didn't want to make too many noises. The man that so-called the best Emperor amongst Emperors drag Cale's body so he can reach every strand his red hair easier. "Just think of it as payment because you like to play with my mane when we are on Earth 3." Cale scoffed. Alberu's mane and his hair are surely different objects and isn't it too old to mention something that happened 10 years ago now? But he was too tired to react more, so Cale just leaned toward the couch as he felt the man's hands roaming in his hair.
Cale shut his eyes and felt the warm hands behind him. It looks like he makes a mistake when he thinks he is alone in this world. He still has this stubborn hyung. Someone he can call family and recognize him as the way he is. He always thinks Alberu is a dependable person. Someone who he can trust to complete all the messes he started. And someone who he can have faith in does things the best as the plan occurs. But hearing the man say there is no Roan Empire here, so he is just act as Cale's hyung now, making him feel weird. It makes him reminiscent of the hyungs figures he had years ago; Lee Soo Hyuk and Choi Jung Soo.
Is it really okay to think of this man as his hyung too, now? That question felt off considering how he acted in front of this man all the time, but still, that question roamed in his mind before he tried to erase it. He sighed and tried not think about it again and changed the topic in his head. "How is it in Lock's Village?" Cale asked. He could feel the hands in his long hair stopped moving for a moment before he heard the man's answer, "We had stationed a few people there to observe the village. We will catch the information fast if that village gets attacked faster than it should be."
Cale nodded satisfied. "Then maybe we can go separated from them starting tomorrow." Cale had thought about it. It's not good if they are from another world too close to the people from this world. After all, they will leave this world after all settled up. In war too, he should let everyone here get stronger so they can protect themselves after he leaves. Especially, he should teach the younger Cale so he can use ancient powers effectively.
"Hello, human's friend!" Cale flinched when he saw the black dragon flying toward them, as well as two kittens. He sat up properly and stared at them who were smiling widely towards him. It's a bit weird though, because the children just focus on the younger Cale all this time. He turned toward the front and saw his younger self hide his smirk and then act as if he had a conversation with the younger Alberu. Cale frowned, but before he could do anything, the black dragon chimed again, "Cale tell me that you are helping me too in the cave! I'm the great and mighty, Raon Miru, bid thank you to human's friend!"
Cale could feel his hyung gaze toward him when he heard the name Raon Miru appear in this world. Cale internally sighed. He knew his younger self would do that after all. He hears Hong and On thank him too and it makes him feel something is clutching his heart. He answered them slowly, "… I'm not in big help, but sure. You're welcome." The kittens wagging their tails and Raon flying in circle twice before it tilted its head, "But we didn't know your name yet! What is your name?"
Cale blinked. It needed much more time when he finally found some name in his head, "… It's Roksu." Cale avoided the children's gaze. But the children who didn't know anything easily accepted that name. He could hear them too asking for his hyung's name and the man nonchalantly answered with Bob. He sighed again, but Alberu just chuckled and patted his head a few times again.
"You're right. Maybe we should separate from them, so you will not miss your children too much." Cale scoffed when Alberu whispered that after the children would come toward his younger self again. His hyung sure likes to tease him. Cale leaned toward the couch again and their activities continued without them saying anything.
Cale maybe felt a bit annoyed because the man so-called his hyung always stubbornly teased him. But in between that feeling, he too can feel the comfort the man wants to share. Cale let the warm Alberu has beside him. He sure, even if he will not admit this, he could feel he is feeling grateful. At least he is not alone in this world. He still has this hyung that strangely can make him better on the bad day he has.
Note:
1. Yes, finally interaction with Molans and Choi Han. I personally don't hate Ron's reaction. After all, they should be wary of everyone. And sure, Ron is more emotional because Arm mentioned in the discussion. Choi Han will follow the original Cale from this time onward. Then how about Lock, Rosalyn, and Eruhaben-nim? They will have their own time!
2. I think the original Cale will be the first member of 'Cale's Protection Squad'' in this parallel world. Well, why not? I love their interaction🤧
3. Yes, Alberu comes at the very best time to comfort Cale from all sad thoughts. Go, Alberu. Don't let Cale reminiscent to all his bad memories!
4. I bid thank you to everyone who is still waiting for this headcanon to continue. All your appreciation for this work is the one that makes me motivated to continue this with all my best. Really, thank you very much. I will do my best to continue this work until the end. So please support me and give love to every character in this work! See you again in the next part!🤧💞
