Finally did a painting study that isn't just someone's face! This one took me 4h30min and I did it (almost) all in one layer. For some reason.
The reference photo is from the Opera North production of Albert Herring, under the cut. It's a really good production with a very nice set, highly recommend.
Turns out a lot of y’all really likes my Opera vines so....yeah have some more :)
On a scale of Albert Herring to Midsommar, how unhinged was your May Day celebration?
Help Stage Managers of Tumblr!
Hello you beautiful stage managers! I need your help and advice if you please. I’m DSMing my first opera in a few months and I could use any tips and advice you all have. I’m new to opera completely.
Thank you all so so much in advance!
The new yard hand is useless
Two pictures of a performance of 'Albert Herring' by Benjamin Britten - with Peter Pears as the poor darling 'May King' Albert, here dressed in white with flower crown on his hat. I'm currently enjoying this charming, cheerful opera very much - it's highly recommended!
planning on watching and possibly liveblogging the Met's Der fliegende Holländer, but I also want to watch another new-to-me opera tonight, so choice between:
Tchaikovsky's Pikovaya dama (Pique Dame or The Queen of Spades)
or
Verdi's Un giorno di regno (King for a Day)
or
Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg (The Dwarf)
or
Britten's Albert Herring
let me know in the comments!
