Y’all rereading Half a Soul (Olivia Atwater) for the nth time and Lady Carroway really deserves a fucking medal for her patience. (And the Viscount I guess by extension)

You mean to tell me her son came back from the war, all torn up and shit, and suddenly the Lord Sorcier is hanging around demanding his help with french translations and being utterly unbearable to polite company? And she just keeps letting him come back, keeps inviting him to shit? Fully just lets Albert drag around his social outcast bestie to every function, family and social? Beautiful, amazing, iconic. The fact that her attempts at setting him up with Dora keep getting ruined at every opportunity and yet she backs down the minute she realizes *why*? The patience she has for her son and his two social outcast besties is so fucking funny. What does she mean she “would’ve loved to have Dora as a daughter”, Elias is practically also her son at this point, thats absolutely her daughter now.
