Hola friends and comrades! It is I, Maimonides, noted 13th-century rabbi, physician, philosopher, author of the Guide to the Perplexed and general PARTY ANIMAL!!!
I wrote some jokes about the UK’s new alcohol guidelines. I mean, Maimonides wrote some jokes. Everything in here is something he actually said! I love history. And wine.
Turns out men shouldn't drink more than women after all
Turns out men shouldn’t drink more than women after all
LONDON — For years, men in the UK have been told they can drink more alcohol than women – the recommended limit for them was three to four units a day, compared to two to three units for women. Now though, the Department of Health has issued new guidelines stating that neither men or women should consume more than 14 units over the course of a week, which is the equivalent of six pints of…

New Safer Alcohol Guidelines
New “safe” alcohol guidelines from Nanny State have been drawn up, where “safe” means none, like a nun, more abstinence than absinthe. Beer takes a battering and wine is to be watered down. Livers up and down the country are leaping for joy!

'Every drink you have raises cancer risk' warning in new alcohol guidelines
Drinkers are being warned that regularly consuming even a small amount of alcohol can lead to cancer. The warning comes in new official guidelines on alcohol consumption, with men being urged to halve their weekly intake from 28 to 14 units. Women are also being told to curb their drinking, with 14 units being the most they should drink in any given week. However, the guidelines warn that the risks of getting cancer "start from any level of regular drinking and rise with the amount being drunk".
Drinking any level of alcohol regularly carries a health risk for anyone, but if men and women limit their intake to no more than 14 units a week, it keeps the risk of illness like cancer and liver disease low
England's chief medical officer, Dame Sally Davies
The new guidelines represent the biggest change in public health policy for more than 20 years. Before, it was suggested it was safe for men to have 28 units a week - the equivalent of about 12 pints. The recommended limit for women was 21 units. The new levels mean the typical adult should not be having more than six pints of beer or five 175ml glasses of wine a week. As before, it is recommended that drinkers spread their units over the course of a week instead of saving them up for bingeing. Dr James Nicholls, director of research at Alcohol Research UK, said: "When it comes to cancer... there's just a straight-line relationship between how much you drink and how your risk increases."
I think that's a choice for hard-working Brits to make in the comfort of their own households or wherever they are.
