Chris Pine and the DUI thing
Let me start with my disclaimer before you all get all up in arms.
I am in no way condoning Chris Pine's actions. In fact, I personally will not have even a sip of an alcoholic drink if I will be driving that night. If I do end up having a drink, I will NOT drive. Driving under the influence not only endangers the driver but also any passengers and many, many innocent bystanders. That being said, we don't know Chris Pine. We can't really make any assumptions at this point. Information is very limited. Condemn the ACTIONS not the person.
It bothers me that a lot of fans are blindly defended him. He done wrong, people WILL diss him. Get over it. If someone makes the gross misjudgement to drive under the influence, they deserve at least a bit of flack for it. There are SO many safe alternatives. And I'm sure Chris can afford the cab fare.
He may be struggling with alcoholism, or he may have made ONE very bad, extremely stupid, totally dangerous judgement call. I am hopeful (not because he is handsome and famous but because he is a human being) that it is the latter. I am hopeful that he has learned his lesson and fortunately, without physically injuring anyone.
What I suspect happened is that Chris did as he does at home in the States and figured he waited long enough and was legal to drive. A lot of people are saying that he was likely "just over the limit" and point to the fact that he was booked during a random check rather than being stopped for erratic driving or some such.
Generally, it takes between 1 and 3 hours after consuming 1 beer for a person's body to process the alcohol. Everyone's body is different and other factors also come into play. Like how much food and what type of food was consumed. But often, a man of Chris' size can have a beer, hang out for a couple hours and be legal to drive himself home.
One last contributing factor is that New Zealand's limit used to be the same as in the US but was changed in November. Perhaps he was unaware of that. You can find those details here.
So those of you calling Chris a horrible monster and those of calling for unconditional love and support? Chill out and meet me in the middle.
Drunk driving is wrong. Chris could afford to take a cab.
Stop being so butthurt that people are judging Chris Pine. He deserves it.
He might deserve it but you don't know him, chill the fuck out.
BAC in US is 0.08%. BAC in New Zealand recently changed from 0.08% to 0.05%. Could be a factor.
