How the heisters dress on Xmas Day:

Sydney & Joy: matching pyjamas or loungewear. They want to be COMFY, they want to be COSY, and they want ELASTICATED WAISTBANDS.

Aldstone: his usual suit, but he wears a red Rudolph nose, and a tie which plays a festive tune when pressed.

Sokol and Wolf: insistent that the DC winter is nothing compared to the Russian/Swedish winters, they wear tank tops and shorts.

Locke: camo fatigues, with a sprig of holly pinned to his beret.

Vlad: athleisure, with mistletoe hanging from a Hello Kitty headband, and another piece from his crotch.

The Payday heisters fight over the TV in the living room. Here's some headcanons about what ends up playing on the TV:

- There's lots of terrible soaps and reality TV. Hoxton loves to hate-watch things (like hockey once in a while). What he didn't expect was to get super invested in House Hunters and some stupid K drama.

- Rust and Duke have ended up in the exact same boat. You can find the three men glued to the TV and cheering occasionally. Sometimes Joy or Sydney joins them, but those two know what they're getting into.

- At Aldstone's request, BBC is available on the TV, and it's usually the channel that's on if nobody is watching. You get a large group of heisters gathered around the TV if a nature documentary is on. (Such is the power of David Attenborough)

- You'd expect Sydney to be the one to do this, but Clover is the one addicted to All Aussie Adventures. She rewatches it every so often, usually in the wee hours of the morning and with a bowl of popcorn.

- Cooking programs are all but banned, except for Diner, Drive-ins and Dives. There have been too many incidents.

- Everyone has their preferred sports programs, but lawn bowls seems to get the strongest reactions for some reason...

- The younger heisters love to sit around and catch the news, especially after heists. Sokol cheers whenever the Payday gang are mentioned.

- Gardening programs are banned because of an incident with Jimmy. Jiro sends him links to watch on his phone anyway. The two maintain a nice little veggie patch.

- Dallas can watch whatever he wants on his big screen. He refuses any and all requests except for Houston asking to watch F1.

- The go-to movie for movie night is always Spirited Away. Or Space Balls. Or Princess Bride. Everyone has weirdly wholesome(?) taste in movies.

So about the Safehouse and actual sleeping arrangements.

Besides Jacket’s area which is has a couch do we actually know if the others have rooms? Because the way it’s presented, the safehouse is more of a work office than anything. 

But that doesn't make any sense because of Aldstone’s lines about cleaning and ironing heisters clothes.

Plus what about heisters like Sokol? Surely well loved but slightly problematic hockey play Sergei Kozak can’t just disappear to America without some level of Russian Media reporting about it? (Or maybe not, I’m operating under the assumption that Russian Sports Journalist are just as obnoxious and privacy invading as they are in the USA)

While sure I can see Mr. Nathan Steele, that nice banker, owning a house. And maybe his little brother having a tiny apartment. And that nice veteran Nicolas owns many houses, one in Sweden even. But whose going to rent or sell anything towards recently escaped fugitive James “Hoxton” Hoxworth of the infamous Payday Gang. Well, without it being a set up that is.

So unless the others are coach surfing, I think the Safehouse, or at least the “second” one has to have some bedrooms we don’t see. Maybe it has limited rooms, maybe Jacket moves to his couch for more room. But surely it must exist.

But the fandom already agreed on this. I just wanted to write about it.

WannaBeHeister!Reader. The reader wants to join the crew in heisting but everyone fears in worry of the precious cinnamon roll being hurt.

-You were originally a contracter for the gang, giving them a variety of different jobs to get some sweet loot. With of course some for you.

-However you were beginning to get bored with sitting back and letting the Payday gang do all the dirty work. So you suggested to Bain and the gang that you should play a part.

-Though they’re not quite sure about it. They’ve never really seen you as threatening, only the dark jobs that they’ve been given by you.

-They’re just more afraid of seeing their friend getting hurt.

-Bain finally lets you join the gang, however with the terms that the gang will teach you the ropes.

-If you didn’t know how to handle a gun before, Wick and Chains are your guys for the job.

-They find it cute how you’re just learning to shoot a gun. Though they hope you’ll never have to use it, they can’t really imagine you killing cops for a living. Despite the shady stuff you’ve done.

-Houston and Dallas would teach you the ropes on the different heists and preplanning. They have a certain eye for that sort of stuff.

-Your first heist you go out with Hoxton, Wolf, and Sokol. It’s a stealth heist so the three of them are doing their best on reminding you what you’ve learned.

-Though it goes wrong, it wasn’t entirely your fault but one of the others tripped an alarm so they had to make it quick.

-Overall your first heist was a success. You got the loot that you needed and the gang was pretty happy with your work.

-”There’s hope for you yet, rookie.”

-However on a loud heist you got seriously hurt and the crew freaked out.

-They get protective over their crew members, especially you.

-Luckily you got patched up real good at the safehouse with the help of Aldstone. Though they told you you should be a bit more careful in the future.

In the Safehouse, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

As a compromise, Dallas had ruled that no Christmas decorations were to be installed before December 1st - “Not everyone likes the holidays, y’know,” he explained to the crestfallen and disbelieving Hoxton.

Once the first day of Advent rolled around, it seemed that every day there was something new to be seen in the Safehouse.

Things usually began small, as they typically do, with advent calendars being put out and the odd bit of tinsel appearing here and there; the bright wrapping decorating everything from the barbells in Dragan’s gym to door frames. Even the getaway vans got their own little makeovers, with Christmas-themed air fresheners hung in place, filling the vehicle with fragrances like pine and cinnamon.

Aldstone gets into the spirit of things midway through the month, trading his typical work-wear accessories for more festive ones - a reindeer tie here, a bauble tie there.

Being artistic, the likes of Sydney and Duke would produce artwork to commemorate the season. Sydney made Christmas-themed masks and offered them to any heister that wanted them (the white snowflakes on a blue-background proved rather popular, with the flaming Christmas pudding design being a close second favourite). Duke opted for a more subdued look, painting gorgeous wintry scenes depicting families launching snowballs at one another, or city streets decorated with festive lights and trees and tired shoppers.

Jacket lines and the hyper-specific situations they're used in:

"Unhand me, FIEND." - being grabbed by the scruff of the neck by Chains, Houston, Dragan or Sokol. Usually that is in response to seeing Jacket eating things he shouldn't.

"Meow." (usually spammed) - Waking Houston up so he can cook breakfast. Usually this is at 5am.

"I can explain. It was him. He did it." - Jacket passing off the blame to Sokol when he bit the top of a gingerbread house. Chains didn't buy it.

"Nutritional value is negligible." - Jacket when he sees Duke drinking whiskey for breakfast... again.

"Cleaning is unnecessary." - Jacket when he is placed in a bubble bath because he hasn't showered in two weeks. Aldstone is armed with a hazmat suit and a mop.

"This is my spot. I will not yield." - Jacket lying across the foot of Houston's bed, too lazy to get up.

Festive headcanons for our darling heisters!

- Hoxton turns into the most festive person when December starts. It's not that obvious, but the heisters who know him best (including Houston, weirdly enough) notice a very sparkly gleam in his eye.

- Dallas is a decent singer, but Houston has the voice of an angel. Hoxton was trying to get some backup singers for his new hit single and so was very disturbed by this discovery.

- Clover is just as festive as Hoxton. She can't cook that well, but she's the one delegating jobs for the Safehouse Christmas party.

- Sydney is more of a Christmas lunch girl than a Christmas Eve dinner person. You can bet she'll be at the grill to help with the Christmas hangovers in the morning.

- Houston and Hoxton can both climb like Spiderman, so it's their job to put up small things like Christmas lights and baubles. Chains and Dragan work on the really big fixtures (the "Dong" light ;))

- Chains is amazingly dexterous and gets the job of decorating the gingerbread houses and Christmas cakes.

- There's so so much festive food. The European heisters all make something from their homelands. Dragan's pepper cookies were a surprise hit.

- Joy is the DJ. She's not completely satisfied with the job, so on Christmas Eve she brings out some awesome holographic projections from projectors she hid around the Safehouse.

- Sangres gives her a lot of awesome song suggestions for the festive season. He's always a party guy, but he's extra festive with all the food and drink. After a while, he takes an armchair and asks each heister what they want from Santa-gres...

- Jimmy covers everything in white powder, which Clover is okay with because it "has a festive touch". She takes back those words when Jimmy starts licking everything which even looks like it has white powdery substance on it.

- Hoxton is the most likely to break out into song. He lives December like it is a musical.

- Jiro doesn't really celebrate Christmas, but he's surprisingly helpful with setting up the decorations and making them look just right. Next to him, Rust just drinks a beer and passes the tinsel.

- Dallas gets swept up in the festive energy and ends up being a lot more physically affectionate with all the heisters. Cue headpats and hugs galore.

- He even sits down with the original gang (plus Houston and Bain) to write all the Christmas cards to the contractors and other helpful forces. They even send a funny one to Commissioner Garrett. Each card has Hoxton's hit single attached.

- Houston can play guitar. Hoxton can also play guitar. Neither of them are happy about this fact.

- Jacket is always stealing food. Clover has had to put Sokol on Jacket watch just so he doesn't take a massive bite out of a gingerbread house again.

- Of course, Aldstone is the one who actually has to clean up the messes.

Anyway on a different topic, bro do you think that the og 4 + Bain would ever go out together after everything’s over? (If it’s not canon compliant ✊😔) or MAYBE there could be a post-canon thing they tell Bain “of course you’re part of the gang, you always have been” after he refers to himself as separate from his crew. awww angst/fluff potential. >:)

Okay SO I am sober now. In the end, I had a big meal AND dessert, and drank plenty of water so I could get through Hotline Miami with less of a handicap (you should've seen my sister and her boyfriend, though. My sister feigned a migraine today and didn't go to work because she was, in her words, 'still drunk'. Yikes).

ANYWAY BACK TO PAYDAY STUFF-

I think IF Bain doesn't die were going to hang out with any of the heisters post-game, it would have to be the OG4.

They'd spend days arguing about where to go and what to do. Dallas wants them to spend time on his boat, sailing wherever they fancied and spending weeks at sea. Hoxton - who suffers from awful seasickness - vetoed this and offered them a stay in one of his mansions in the English countryside (the offer was swiftly retracted when Aldstone announced he was going to accompany Clover to continue teaching her how to exploit the rich and famous, because if there's one thing Hoxton can't do, its cook).

In the end, Bain gets impatient. "Look, I haven't even been into a goddamn bar in years, I'd be happy just going to the Tasteful."

And that's exactly what they do. Well, more than that, really - but it occurred to them that Bain really hadn't been able to enjoy many of life's simple pleasures, and they set about enjoying day-to-day activities with him.

One day they went to a high-end cinema and bought tickets for the best seats - the ones with massage function and concierge service. They had a BBQ and bonfire at the beach. They visited Duke once he got his museum up and running (provided they didn't take anything). And Bain's heart was full, swollen and fit to burst from how content he was doing mundane things with the four men he'd seen potential in eight (?) years ago.
