Introducing Sonic (and Shadow) in...

That Freak of Nature!

You (yes you) can send in Asks about this AU because they. are. OPEN!

They were anyway but like...now you definitely know.

Introducing the main cast! Team Sonic + A Very Special Parasite...thing! (what the hell is it???)

Sonic! A hedgehog who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tails! A fox trying all he can to help Sonic without having too many emotional breakdowns.

Knuckles! An echidna who is actively blaming himself for how things turned out.

And Shadow! A carnivorous parasitic alien creature that gets stuck in Sonic's body for the foreseeable future. Nobody is happy about this.

The best I can explain this AU rn is that it's kind of like Venom but with a healthy dose of Tokyo Ghoul cannibalism horror.

There is more to go with this story since I'm currently writing it up as a fic, but as long as it isn't too spoiler-worthy (or I literally haven't thought that far yet the ideas come to me organically and I puzzle them together) These traumatised boys will try to answer!

Or you can Ask me directly about the AU as a whole. Will do either! Maybe more ideas will fall into place. Who knows?!

By the way, as of now within the canon of the story, Shadow doesn't know they have a name, but for the sake of being able to actually address it, if you call him that, it'll assume you're talking to them because nobody else has that name. And also it sounds familiar somehow...

Shadow will answer to any pronouns because they don't know what gender is and don't care, although I'll personally flip between he/they/it pronouns.

Can we have a little teaser for chap 15 of FoN?

Yes you can! Sorry for leaving you hanging, but! Here's the first 200+ words of Chapter 15 that may or may not be tweaked a little as I continue working on it.

The extended break to focus on studies and starting a new story made my writing for this one fairly rusty. It was so much worse literal days ago. I think I'm getting it back though so hopefully I have a finished chapter soon.

Hey, hey! Did you know that today is TFoN's birthday? Technically. Because I was writing it before that date but dw bout that. Yep, I uploaded Chapter 1 of my main Sonic AU's fic a year ago today! It really doesn't feel like that, does it? Probably because Chapter 13 isn't done yet ehehehh... (Was planning to upload it today, but assignments took priority and needed a mini mental break before going back to it)

Yeah, that's also why I haven't uploaded any of my own art for almost a month. So...Have a drawing of Team Sonic with intentionally badly cut out party hat jpegs.

But thank all of you who engage in my Sonic Horror shenanigans! Couldn't have made it this far without y'all!

Also the day is pretty much over for me, but I spent a while on this. I'm a little rusty on my Sonic artstyle and I'm still adjusting to my new tablet. Drawing directly onto a screen feels different.

Something in my head just kicked into high gear and realised something interesting. Sonic's rivals have their differences in colour in relation to aspects of Sonic's personality.

So, Sonic is blue. That we know and understand. Personality traits and values remain as they are: friendly, outgoing, adventurous, and all about freedom.

Knuckles is red. His sole duty in life is bound to Angel Island and the Master Emerald. It's his life, even if he allows himself to step away for a time.

A hue shift towards red implies duty and responsibilities.

Blaze is purple, not too far up a hue-shift from blue, but is in-between red. Instead of neverending freedom and will do to whatever, or being bound to the sole purpose of being a guardian, she has responsibilities of the crown and will do her duty to protect to Sol Emeralds.

Jet is green. Green is a hue shift in the opposite direction, so instead of an overwhelming sense of responsibility, there's a rise of cockiness and arrogance.

Shadow is an interesting case. It's not his colour exactly that makes Sonic his opposite. It's more of his own will that differs. His personality isn't exactly inverted, it's more of an amplification of what Sonic isn't.

Sonic is chill, Shadow is stiff.

Sonic is excitable, Shadow hardly budges.

Sonic saves the world through his own will because he believes that everyone should have a chance to be free; Shadow saves the world to protect the dying wish of someone else he really cared for.

Am I onto something or does this make no sense?

(Edit Pre-Posting: I wrote this and then threw it in my drafts back in early December. Why the fuck did I not post this??? What the fuck??? I was onto something. I don't care if it may be a little incoherant/underdeveloped, I'm releasing this from my drafts!)

New Sonic Headcanon: Glow-in-the-dark Knuckles the Echidna

Accidentally made this one and realised how cool it was (at least to myself anyway).

I feel that Knuckles should get weird mobian biology privileges like Shadow does since he's the guy who sits next to one of the most powerful objects on the planet.

It'd be so funny if Knuckles was bioluminescent or something because of all the Chaos Energy he's absorbed all his life. Not by much, just kinda like a glowstick that's always going.

In fact, it'd be so cool if all life on Angel Island glowed in the dark to some extent and Knuckles was surprised that only the island had properties like that. Like

Sonic: "Knuckles, what the heck? Why are you glowing in the dark like that?"

Knuckles: "Why am I glowing? Why are you *not*? In fact, why does nothing down here glow? What's with that?"

Sonic: "...Because they're not supposed to? Not normally anyway."

Knuckles: "I've always glowed like this."

Sonic: "You were always like that? How'd I not notice?"

Knuckles: "You're never normally near me when it's this dark so you'd never see that I did — or I'd see that you don't."

Sonic: "...Huh. Weird."
