could you please specify the titles of the baudelaire blood and lesbians poems? also i love your tag commentary lmaooo
always!! :-)
for lesbians : damned women I and damned women II (i don't mind the first one but i love the second)
for blood : i was mostly thinking of the fountain of blood, but i also really like the way blood is used in spleen (i am like the king of a rainy country...) and voyage part VI
the lesbian poems were sadly banned for a long time and dont have a ton of translations, but the other three all have a version by edna st vincent millay and i always love hers the most
I think this is my third blog total (not including sideblogs). I've had it for 6 or 7 years at this point, I don't really remember why I started this one other than wanting some separation from online discourse I had participated in when I was younger.
18: do you believe in ghosts and/or aliens?
Ghosts no. Gnce you're dead, you're dead. Aliens, yes. I believe that the universe is far too large and strange for there not to be other life in it.
38: fave song at the moment?
I've been really enjoying Orla Gartland's Everybody Needs A Hero album recently, especially Kiss Ur Face Forever
my go-to fav is Simulation Swarm by Big Thief. really good song
what are ur fave songs from the latest lord huron album & fave songs of theirs of all time?
ohhh my friends lord huron!!! the last album... it might grow on me yet, but i feel like the second half of the album is a total blur to me, i can't recall most of the songs on the second half at all. but the first half has songs i like : i would name my favorites as Nothing I Need, Is There Anybody Out There, and the strangest track they've ever released by far, Who Laughs Last. this one took me a lot of time to appreciate, but i really like it now
i preferred the songwriting in Strange Trails and Lonesome Dreams, and i miss stories with really specific themes and characters, but i find a lot of the production on Long Lost and Cosmic Selector really pleasant. i'm not very good at putting that into words lol, but i just find the singer's voice + the kind of instruments they use + the effects they apply really pleasant to the ear, like i used to think When The Night Is Over was boring but i find it strangely soothing now. that's what helps me like some songs more over time even if the lyrics are less special
my favorite songs of all time... very hard. i'll cheat and do it album by album
Lonesome Dreams : i don't listen to that one or Strange Trails a ton cause they remind me of being a teenager 💀 but many good songs! hard to pick my favorites... Time To Run would be on there if the intro wasn't so damn long, sorry for being evil. so i'd say I Will Be Back One Day, The Man Who Lives Forever (i used to not like this one, but i'm in my optimist era, and now i agree) and Setting Sun <- that one is a huuuuge favorite of mine, i'm so sad it's not on the main album. i can't help it, i always love songs that come from bitterness and resentment and ugly emotions, and i think this one is good at it
Strange Trails : Dead Man's Hand for sure, love the little story it tells! then maybe Way Out There (great song to think about my sad most doomed characters to), and maybe World Ender just because that song is so fun-evil. hearing it live made me like it so much more, it's just fun! i have to give a special mention to Meet Me In The Woods because that's the first song i heard by them and it felt life changing... special bad mention for The Night We Met cause i don't like that one
Vide Noir : Ancient Names babyyyyy 😎 i got to hear that one live before the album came out and it blew my mind. then probably Secret Of Life and Back From The Edge! but Vide Noir is probably the album i like the most as an album, i like to listen to that one front to back. i like almost every song, except Wait By The River, but even that one has some strange charm from how pathetic the narrator sounds lol
Long Lost : oh, Long Lost... came out at a very specific moment of my life, when i was in a city i'll probably never go back to, so it's very special to me. i like a lot of songs on there! didn't love all the talking though. they need to recut Mine Forever just for me. but i do really like that song, and also Long Lost, and maybe Your Other Life? i like most songs, but few stand out that much. still, i liked it
folly!!! you are always so lovely and a joy to share an internet with. i am always excited to see you pop up on my feed or notifs <3 sending you love forever from across the oceans
