Sorry that this is so late on your birthday.. I’m gonna blame Dunkirk distracting me from my carefully laid plans--I’m sure you understand. I love you so much, I’m so glad we’ve been able to watch movies together a bunch this year. It’s so much fun to have another person who loves silly romcoms and also dancing movies. I’m pretty sure every movie that I’ve watched with you, I’ve ended up enjoying it more than before. I propose that the year of 2017 forever be known as the year Caitlin made the epic romcom ratings list--which should also be taught in schools. You’re so lovely and such a fiercely great friend and you’re also hilarious. Before we ever talked for the first time I stalked your entire letterboxd because your reviews were just about the funniest things I’d ever read. Thank you for lighting up my life with your beautiful Snapchats and your adorable accent.

Alice Ayres was sleeping in a room with her employer's three young daughters, when fire broke out downstairs. When she woke up and realised what was going on, her first thought was for the girls. The crowd outside shouted for her to jump, but instead she threw a mattress out the window to give a better landing, and then threw out each girl in turn. Unfortunately when it came to jumping out herself, Alice missed the mattress and landed on the road, fracturing her spine. She died two days later in hospital.
