Well, how very flattering to be asked *reels in amazement*  : My works on Ao3 That Maglor snippet you liked is from a story that will join the Return to Aman series.   (Sadly, it is not all about Maglor getting drunk.  In fact, I wasn’t sure if Drunken Maglor talking in verse worked, hence sharing the snippet.  Apparently people like it though, so now I can keep it in!)

Honestly I prefer it so much to Celebrimbor actually being naive or deceived. The stakes seem so much higher (narratively speaking) if Celebrimbor has some idea about who/what Annatar is and knows that he's taking a gamble.

yeah, also, there’s a whole spectrum of levels of knowledge/suspicion! I’ve probably said this before but I think it would have been a hell of a leap from “this helpful Maia is kind of evasive about his past” to “he’s literally Sauron”....

I guess the real question then here is: Is Celebrimbor's "I'm not surprised I'm just disappointed" face as good as his father's?

It’s actually very similar, Celebrimbor picked up more of Curufin’s parenting mannerisms than he likes to admit. It’s just, as a child Celebrimbor winced every time Curufin raised an eyebrow in a disappointed fashion (he got over it) (...he tells himself he got over it, anyway), whereas Annatar cannot possibly imagine being disappointing to anyone. Frankly, he’s pretty disappointed that Celebrimbor doesn’t seem to appreciate his vision! He thought better of Celebrimbor, really...
