Illustration inspired by the German fairy-tale “Sterntaler”.
There once was a girl without a father or mother. She had no-where to go, no bed to sleep in, no roof over her head. All she owned were her clothes and half a loaf of bread. While the girl was wondering around she met a man who was starving. Out of her kindness she gave her bread to him. When she continued to walk around she met a child who was freezing. Sterntaler gave the child his hat. She continued her way and met yet another child who was cold, so the girl gave her coat to the child and continued her way. The third child she’d give her shoes. When it was late, Sterntaler sat down underneath a tree hungry and cold. It was then, that the stars would fall down to her and turn into gold coins. Sterntaler collected the coins and would never be hungry again.
