Is there a show/game you haven't started yet because you fear you would get way too into it?

Oh not really. I’m the sort of person who keep things running in the background while I work, so the only ones I’ve really put off watching is various animes I’m a tiny bit curious about, since the language means I’d have to read the subtitles. I’ve tried watching Anne with a E, but for some reason it just made me highly anxious, which is a shame, since it seem quite lovely and heartfelt. Been meaning to give She-Ra a go. >_>

Games wise, it’s mostly that I’ve been trying to catch up on stuff in FFXIV, then I’ll probably try and replay Dishonored 2 before getting to Dishonored: Death to the Outsider. It and AC: Syndicate have been untouched since i bought them on the Steam winter sale.

Alistair couldn’t sleep.

Not that this situation was unfamiliar to him, or surprising—hehad hardly slept since the events at Ostagar. Loghain’s betrayal, King Cailan’sdeath, and…Duncan. There was a heavyprice to being a Warden, but even Alistair didn’t expect his mentor to die injust a way. He had a hard time shaking the guilt of surviving. He had littleidea on what he was doing, not equipped with the same knowledge that Duncan hadto end a Blight. At least there was Evelyn.

She was there with him now—thatwas surprising. She had visited his tent earlier in the night, wanting todiscuss their plans on retrieving the Warden treaties away from the others.While he had pretty much completely relinquished all leadership duties to her, shestill valued his input. Their discussion had dissolved into a long conversationabout nothing in particular—small talk to pass the time, the two just wantingto spend share a quiet moment together. She didn’t seem keen to leave.

Somewhere in all that she had fallen asleep, head leaning onhis shoulder. For a while Alistair thought he should wake her, wondering if itwas proper for her to be there. His heart and mind raced over the implications,the rumors their companions might circulate. Yet, a large part of him wantedher to stay. He cared for Evelyn—she knew that—but it was starting to developinto something much more than comradery between two Wardens.

He thought about how little sleep she had been getting. Before Ostagar, Evelyn had witnessed thedeath of practically her entire family. Not knowing if her brother Fergus wasalive or dead, coupled with the trauma of the Joining…Alistair wasn’t sure howshe was keeping her emotions in check. So, he decided, he wouldn’t—couldn’t—wake her. Rather, he moved herso she was comfortably resting against him, tucking the bedroll blanket overher body as he laid them both down.

She was warm. Her head was resting on his chest, one armtucked loosely around his torso. It was instinctual for her, he supposed, buthe had never been held like this—especiallyas he (tried to) sleep. He was hesitant to hold her in return, unsure of wherehis hands belonged. Perhaps he needed to just leave them raised in the air sohe wouldn’t touch her anywhere inappropriateon accident. Eventually he circled his arm around her, carefully resting hishand on her side, his other hand resting near her face. Surprisingly, he feltcalm, and with each breath he could feel his eyes drooping.

As soon as Alistair finally closed his eyes, however, Evelynstirred. Only slightly, but it was enough to make him freeze. Was she wakingup? He wondered if he should feign sleep in case she reacted poorly to thecompromising situation. She stirred again, her body twitching as she let out asharp breath. Her fingers tightened into the front of his shirt.

“No,” shemuttered.

Alistair frowned, knowing she was battling a nightmare. Hecould only guess at the number of terrible thoughts plaguing her. He instinctivelytightened his arm around her, tilting his head so it rested against hers. It wouldpass—or maybe it wouldn’t. Evelyn’s body only tensed up further, her breathingstaggered. It alarmed him enough that he knew he needed to help.

“Hey, hey—” He turned his body slowly so he could face her,bringing her into a gentle embrace. “Evelyn, wake up. It’s okay.”

Her eyes opened, gaze darting frantically in the darkness.She leaned back, startled, but he held her still, cradling her head in onehand, the other brushing down across her back. He repeated the motion until shecalmed, her eyes closing momentarily as he brushed his fingers through herhair.

“Alistair?” she whispered. He nodded as her eyes found hisonce more. She was still holding the front of his shirt tightly, and as ifnoticing herself, slowly relaxed. “Maker, I’m so sorry—”

“Don’t—” he stopped her. He offered a sympathetic smile, andsighed when she weakly copied him. “Everything is…” he trailed. Sayingeverything was alright was offensive, to both of them. He hesitated. “I’m—uhm—here, for you that is—”

His face felt warm when she continued to stare at him. Herealized too that she hadn’t made any effort to sit up, or push him away.Instead, she nestled closer. He couldn’t see her face anymore with her headresting against his chest, but took it as a good sign. Alistair embraced heronce more, think of how he was thankful for her being there, despite thecircumstances. There really wasn’t anywhere else he’d rather be.

Okay, whew!  Sorry it took a little while to get back to these (family member’s car trouble, family member retiring, setting up a Boomer with her first smart phone, funeral, not to mention regular weekend activities...)  Thanks for your patience :)  Guys, WOW.  WooooW!  I was... a little embarrassed?  But pleased!  That so many people were all, “DO IT!”  Which, is great, because I really want to :D 

Uhh, the link I shared before about previous sketches didn’t work, but Hey. Tumblr. Like anything, it will be a labor of love :).  Specific thanks to those with commentary, but thanks for everyone’s likes or even a reblog here or there (^o^)!

Yaaaas! Omg yes pick something you love! Water colours of your favourite places, portraits of your dnd characters, draw a latte or fancy coffee every day and combine your interests

Ok!  Yes, good!  Thank you :D  Because I was thinking, “Uhhhh, do I just embody Michelangelo over night?!” But your advice is much more manageable :D

That's awesome! Best of luck! I always feared having them on my main blog might drive people away but if anything the opposite happened. I found my little slice of the Tumblr community to be super supportive!
