Oops? Idk, it's a messy situation. I tend to the "chill on the callout posts" because i've only ever seen it directed at younger folks who've deleted from the spam of anons, though that can chalk up to my inexperience on tumblr

Okay, basically, you should not be calling out anyone under the age of majority, for any reason. If they fuck up, you send them a polite, private message detailing why. consider including sources.

But that’s really fucking different from suggesting that pulling the BUllshit Express History Of Recent Stops on Donald Trump is equivalent to the raging froth we used to work ourselves up to about hating female characters in fandom (as if that has even stopped). 

And the posts I am seeing on the subject lately no longer focus on the “teach children rather than punishing them” thing, and instead focus on “all callouts are bad, and create an attitude of hysteria and witch hunting which is dangerous” and no they don’t.

It’s a flagrant overcorrection.

Instead of seeing “ah yes, we’ve harassed literal children into a position of serious mental illness” and thinking “maybe we should dial it down, and rethink our tactics” all the posts on the subject that I have seen lately involve people are pulling too hard in the opposite direction to “we should never maintain receipts or create cohesive public record posts ever again ever because it is Bad™.”

Overcorrection is a leading cause of fatal traffic accidents, and this cannot end well.

A Church Oriented Halloween Activity™ where peopel park in their church’s parkinglot and give candy to kids out of their cars.

It’s also acceptable if you live in a deeply rural area where you would not be able to trick or treat normally.

But it’s generally a shoddy half hearted affair with little of the halloween festivities and a lot of dress codes which disallow “inappropriate” costumes such as anythign with blood on it, or witches in general. At least the ones back home did that.

Like. You basically could come dressed as an animal or an angel those wer e your options. Anything “too satany” (my words, not theirs) would get you turned away at the gate.

They’re pretty terrible over all.
