Would the real Elijah Mikaelson...

As Bex walks into the compound she hears a sound she suddenly realizes she has missed terribly. A soft song is being played on the piano. She figures it would have to be Elijah and makes her way to his study. The door was mostly shut but not completely so she peeks in. Just as she thought Elijah is at his piano playing a song she knows she has heard but can’t place.

She uses her vamp speed to get Freya and bring her back to the study door to spy on their brother. She doesn’t believe Freya has ever heard him play. Neither is prepared for what comes next.

“Elijah would you please play it for me?” Charlotte asks.

“I’m afraid my siblings would faint if I did Love. You can come in Sisters,” he says with a laugh.

“Wow, I may faint from that alone. Elijah Mikaelson laughing,” Freya whispers.

“I remember he used to laugh a lot. It’s good to see and hear again,” Bex adds. “We didn’t mean to interrupt, Brother.”

“You might as well stay ladies,” Charlotte starts then looks at Elijah. “Unless that means you will refuse to play my request with them here. Then I will ask you ladies to leave the house immediately,” Charlotte laughs.

“No, that won’t be necessary,” Elijah laughs as he continues to softly play.

At that moment Klaus storms in, “What the bloody hell is going on, who the hell are you and what have you done with my big brother?” he asks as he laughs almost hysterically.

Elijah smiles at his siblings while still playing.

“Love it seems they have missed hearing you play as much as I have,” Charlotte laughs.

“Would the real Elijah Mikaelson please stand up!” Klaus exclaims.

“Very funny Niklaus,” Elijah says with a smirk.

“Well I mean my big brother doesn’t wear a casual long sleeve pullover shirt and jeans. “

“Considering this little concert started as a quite morning between my wife and I, I’m sure you can forgive my attire.”

Charlotte walks over and sits beside Elijah and kisses his cheek. “It’s ok Sweetheart. You can play it later.”

“You mean there’s more to this version of our brother that’s already very unusual?”

“If you only knew,” Charlotte says with a smile.

“I’m curious about this song because we didn’t hear the name of it so I assume you know which one she means,” Freya comments.

“Yes, it’s a song I wrote for her several decades ago. It’s been recorded by a couple of different people over the years which I still find amazing, but no one else of course knows I wrote it. And it’s way out of the character you know me to be.”

“Seriously, you can get ready for the day. I know there’s a lot going on,” Charlotte says with another kiss on the cheek. She stands up to leave but Elijah takes her arm and says, “Charlotte, please stay. I don’t mind my siblings seeing that side of me. It’s actually kind of liberating to be honest.”

“But you don’t like to...” she begins only to be cut off.

“Charlotte, please. I’m rather enjoying this first pleasant family moment with you here with us. I’ll do it.” Elijah begins playing again so Charlotte sits beside him on the piano bench. As the song begins there almost seems to be a bubble around the couple on the piano bench.

As Elijah finishes the song Charlotte kisses his cheek. He turns to her and kisses her lips sweetly. His siblings are all watching with a smile on their faces but don’t seem to want to break the moment for the couple.

“I told you it was very out of character as you know me,” Elijah says as he looks at them with a smile. 

“On the contrary brother,” Klaus begins. “I would say it was quite in tune with you before we were turned. More so than I have seen in centuries. Of course the mere idea of you using the word ‘groovy’ is hilarious on its own.”

“You can all feel free to laugh if you would like,” Elijah comments. “My lady likes it and it was written for her so that’s all I care about.”

“Actually, Elijah I thought it was very sweet. I think Charlotte is very lucky to have a man that would write, play and sing such a song for her. I’m a little jealous,” Bex says as she walks over and wraps the couple in a hug.

Allow me to introduce...

This is an AU where a few things are different from canon.

Hope was born in a hospital because Hayley was never kidnapped so she didn’t become a hybrid.

Hope wasn’t sent away right after she was born. She was sent into hiding when Ester showed up a few months later.

Revenge was still gotten against the witches and Gurrera Pack for plotting to kill Hope.

Elijah has kept a secret from his family for over 90 years.

It has been a rough time for the Mikaelson siblings the past few months. Now that Hayley and Jackson are living across the street, they were hoping things would calm down. Of course that was before the prophesy.

Elijah surprises everybody when he looks panicked and rushes out the door when Freya says the prophesy is real.

About an hour later Jackson and Hayley show up with a sleeping Hope.

“Does anyone know why Elijah said for us to come over,” Hayley asks.

“Elijah? He ran out of here an hour ago and we haven’t heard from him,” Rebekah replies.

A few minutes after that Cami shows up at the compound also saying Elijah asked her to come over that it was important. Everyone is throughly confused until Elijah walks in 15 minutes later with a beautiful woman on his arm.

“Thank you all for coming. Allow me to introduce you all to Charlotte.” Everyone except Hayley seems shocked but in a pleasant way. Right up until he continues, “my wife.”

At first one could have heard a pin drop in the stunned silence that followed.

“Excuse me? Did you say wife,” Rebekah questioned. “

“Yes, my lovely wife.”

Again stunned silence at first. Then everyone tried to ask questions at the same time. Charlotte merely smiled at everyone and hung on Elijah’s arm.

“Why weren’t we invited?”

“When did you get married?”

“How long have you two been together?”

Elijah calmed everyone down, “if you want answers then may I suggest you listen instead of talking.”

“There was only a priest, witness and a photographer present but I would love to show you the pictures,” Charlotte replies. Elijah looks down at her with an expression of complete adoration.

“We were married Christmas Day 1921,” Elijah says causing there to be another outbreak of exclamations which he ignored.

Turns

Elijah walks back into the courtyard of the compound lost in his own thoughts. His conversations with Tristan and Aya echoing in his mind. When he hears a very loud clearing of a throat he looks up into Charlotte’s eyes.

As soon as she sees his eyes she forgets everything else and runs to him and wraps her arms around him. The rest of the house had been anticipating a show with Gia and Charlotte there together. However, when Charlotte runs to him they all become concerned.

“I saw part of the prophesy tonight. Marcel standing in front of a stained glass window talking to Aya. Tristan spoke of a weapon that could kill us all and mentioned his sister. If all 3 aren’t here already they will be soon.”

Elijah tells his story with a glass of bourbon in one hand while the other is entwined with Charlotte’s. With part of the prophesy seen they agree that another visit should be paid to Lucien and his seer.

“Not tonight brother,” Elijah says quietly.

Klaus starts to protest only to have Charlotte cut across him, “Niklaus! He said not tonight. Can’t you see that something about this has him unsettled? Elijah rarely is unsettled so just not tonight.”

“Who the hell are you anyway lady?” Gia suddenly asks.

The room falls silent. Charlotte looks up at Gia with a fire in her eyes that makes Gia take a step back.

“Forgive me. Gia, this is my wife Charlotte. They were all waiting for me to make the introductions.”

Gina is dumbfounded by his statement. The room is silent for a long moment. Then Gia laughs as she says, “your wife called you a pompous ass.”

“Actually she said I can be a pompous ass and she is quite right,” he says with a small smile. The tension in the room seems to break.

“Charlotte Mikaelson, it is a pleasure to meet you,” Gia says. “That actually makes me feel better. I tried to seduce him but it didn’t work. I thought I must be losing my touch but from where I’m sitting right now I see the truth. He is just extremely devoted to his wife.”

“You have no idea how much so,” Elijah smiles.

“What does that mean?”

“Well there is the one time he threatened an entire jazz club that he would wipe out the lot of them if I was injured again in that city. Not to mention the words “I will kill you all,” was included in the threat.”

“They shouldn’t have let the jerk touch you. He’s lucky I didn’t rip him to shreds.”

“You were hurt at the club?”

“Yes, I was still human and a vampire tore into my shoulder. He was going for my neck but I was far from cooperative. He tried to compel me but vervain did the trick.”

“Why do I have the feeling that is the mildest example you could think of?” Niklaus asks with a laugh.

“Probably because you are correct brother. We won’t discuss the most severe cases. Not that I have any remorse, I just don’t want to be reminded of what they did to her,” Elijah states which should end that thread of conversation. It is clear to everyone present that there has been some terrible darkness in the past they have come through together which makes their sweet and loving way of interacting with each other seem even more special.

“Gia, you aren’t the first to try and seduce him either,” Charlotte comments. “One of them and I became very good friends. Oh, she sent a text asking if we need help. I haven’t replied yet.”

“Tell her we may. I would appreciate it if she could come this way.”

“Should she bring Meg?”

Before Elijah can reply Detective Kenney walks into the courtyard.

Josh

When Elijah and Charlotte go to visit Marcel and make the introductions they find a mess instead. Josh is unconscious on the floor as well as several other vampires. When Josh regains consciousness Elijah questions him.

“Let me guess about 5 foot 7 built like a goddess, vicious as a viper.”

“Really Love? Should I be jealous?”

“Of course not my Love. Making a guess based on the last time I laid eyes on her, which as you know has not been in centuries” Elijah replies as he kisses Charlotte’s hand. “Aya. Which means...”

“You would really rather I either go home or stay here,” Charlotte finishes for him.

“Excuse me, don’t mean to be rude but who are you” Josh interrupts.

“Oh goodness where are my manners? Joshua, allow me to introduce my wife, Charlotte.”

“Excuse me? Did you just say your wife?”

“People keep having that reaction. I guess that means we did well at protecting our secret,” Charlotte laughs.

“Charlotte this is Joshua,” Elijah continues. “He has become one of Marcellus’ most trusted allies. And yes I would prefer to not reveal you to our enemies yet. For one they are older than you by centuries. For two the longer they are in the dark the longer you remain our ace in the hole as it were.”

“And the main reason is...” Charlotte raises her eyebrows at her husband.

“That as soon as they know about you there will be a huge target on your back particularly from Aya and I would loose my will to live if I lost you,” Elijah admits as he pulls her to him and wraps his arms around her tightly.

“I will stay here and help Josh clean up. Just be careful Elijah. The loosing the will to live part goes both ways you know.”

“I do know.”

“Wow, this is a side of you I never would’ve guessed existed,” Josh whispers.

“Joshua, I must insist that you do not tell anyone about my wife. I will introduce her to Marcellus in due time. My siblings have met her already. Am I making myself clear?”

“Yeah, what wife?”

Meet Blaze! Another member of the Alpha Team. ~~ She won’t say no to you using her full titles. All of them. She’d actually love it if you greeted her with everything she is, in order. Cultured and seemingly delicate, Blaze has the vernacular of a dictionary and tends to say things in such a way you really have to pay attention to what came out of her mouth to get the meaning. Cares deeply for Jen and will call her by her full name (Jennifer). Secretly loves that Krelien calls her Blazer, though she will never ever, not even with threat of death, admit it aloud to anyone. Family Bonding

Klaus asks Cami to hang around for a little while longer as the new parents get their little one changed and tucked in.

“Do you think he’s gonna be upset? Is that why?”

“No. I just want you to be here with me,” he confesses. “EJ is a smart young man. He made me realize how much I do care and want you with me.”

So the two of them along with Bex and Freya are waiting for them to return. Freya is struggling with wether she should remind everyone of the prophesy now or wait. Klaus seems to be having the same thought, for when she begins to mention it he cuts her off.

“Not tonight. We leave that at the door for tomorrow. Tonight is about us as a family celebrating. After everything our brother has endured for us and all we, mainly I, have put him through he deserves tonight.”

So they agree not to mention it tonight. A little while later Elijah and Charlotte walk in the study hand in hand. Immediately Klaus goes to them and embraces them both.

“I am truly so happy for you both! He is an amazing young man,” he whispers to them.

As he opens his eyes he sees Hayley walking into the study. He gives them an extra squeeze before letting them go.

“What is it Hayley?”

“I saw the study light on and wanted to apologize. Elijah I am sorry for earlier. Everything just came out wrong and I didn’t mean it that way.

All you have ever done is protect Hope and I from day 1. You were the first to accept that this was really happening. You were the only one to just embrace the idea of this family being whole and you have tried so hard to get the rest of us to embrace it as well.

Then today, when you are told that you have a child and get to meet him. When you need your family to be there to support you, I am the one to question it. I am so sorry.

If anyone in this messed up family deserves this chance for happiness it is you and Charlotte. I am on board with you. I just wanted to make sure I was clear about where I stand and that’s by your side. Jackson was there from the moment he saw EJ. Anyway, I just wanted to say I’m with you and I’m sorry.”

She turns to leave but stops when Elijah says her name. She turns to see Elijah and Charlotte each with an arm out for her to come to them. The couple embrace her and ask her to sit.

Charlotte sits on a sofa beside Hayley and hugs her while Elijah remains standing.

“Freya could you please send a message to Constance for us?”

She says she can but says nothing more. Everyone is allowing space for the new parents to process.

“It occurred to me earlier that there are some questions we need answers for and I would rather those answers come from her. For one, does he know about us? His heritage? Has he showed signs of tapping his ability to use magic?”

“And when you manage to get your mind to still and enjoy the moment, Brother?”

He turns and faces his siblings with tears in his eyes as he looks at each one. When his eyes find Charlotte he suddenly walks to where she is sitting and kneels down in front of her. He takes her hand in his and brings it to his lips.

“Our son amazes me,” he chokes out. Finally the damn breaks and he lets it all out as he embraces his wife. “We have a son,” he sobs into her shoulder. His siblings gather round and embrace the couple.

“Let it out ‘Lijah,” Klaus whispers. “You’ve carried that desire for this for so long with no hope of it being fulfilled. Let it go, Brother. You can let it go.”

If anyone had walked in on the scene they would probably assume this was a scene of grief. However, the Original family knew it was from relief and joy. Elijah has carried so much for so long, always being the strong one for his siblings. They felt they owed him this moment of tenderness.

A/N: This wraps up Book 2 and the series Allow Me to Introduce. The story will continue as they deal with the prophesy and adjust to their new addition.

Family Outing

The first order of business was to get some clothes and such for him. This was an interesting process. With all of his Aunts and Uncles as well as his parents showing him things they thought he should look to see if he liked he became overwhelmed.

Seeing this Elijah steps in. “EJ, why don’t you come with me and Uncle Niklaus? Your Aunts and Mom can pick out some other things for you. Do you usually like to sleep in pjs or just shorts or a t-shirt?”

“Pajama pants and a shirt.”

“Are there any things like dinosaurs or cars that you like?” Charlotte asks.

“Both. And trains. I really want to ride on a train,” he tells her.

“Do you like short socks or long ones?”

“Both. If I have to wear them. I don’t like wearing them unless I have to.”

The grownups were all smiles as they got to see glimpses into his personality. Each of them eager to get to know him.

Elijah kisses Charlotte on the cheek and grins at her as he says, “we’re going to take him and let him pick out some things. There’s no need to buy everything now. I’m sure you ladies can pick some stuff and get some necessities after you hit the toys and fun stuff,” he says with a smile.

She kisses him and laughs as she says, “daddy is enjoying this I do believe.”

“I am. He was getting a little overwhelmed with everything. You and I will take him later just the 3 of us. I would like to spend the day tomorrow looking at him picking a room or us showing him his room and then how he would like to decorate it. Maybe some books or paints type stuff.”

“You hear that EJ? We may get to look at some paints tomorrow mate,” Elijah hears Klaus saying to EJ. “What was your bedroom like at your old house?”

He laughs at his brother and is vey happy to have him building a bond with his son. He hugs Charlotte and kisses her softly before joining Klaus and EJ.

“Lijah, EJ was just telling about his bedroom at his old house. What he liked about it and what he didn’t. I think I may have the perfect room in mind for this young man.”

The three guys walk off together laughing and talking. Both men notice that EJ seems to crave their attention and realize he has never had a man in his life. As they are walking Klaus spots an old-fashioned ice cream parlor and gets Elijah’s attention.

Elijah smiles as he asks, “EJ, have you ever had ice cream?”

“I don’t think so. What is it?”

“You are about to find out young man,” Elijah laughs as he picks him up and puts him on his shoulders. The trio makes their way inside and begin showing the different flavors to EJ. They ask if they can sample a couple of flavors since they don’t know which kind he might like.

“So which ones would you like to try,” Klaus asks.

“Daddy, What’s your favorite?”

“I’m incredibly fond of chocolate and strawberry. Your mom likes mint chocolate chip.”

“Uncle Niklaus which is yours.”

“I am partial to butter pecan myself.”

“Can I try all of those?”

Elijah ends up ordering one scoop of each in a big bowl for the 3 of them to share. While they indulge in the treat Klaus snaps several pictures of father and son as well as some selfies of all three.

“So EJ, do you know if you like jeans or pants better?”

“I’m not sure. I just wear what we have.”

“Well then we can buy a couple pair of different styles and material and let you decide which one you prefer,” Elijah tells him. “Just so you know, we are probably going to ask you a lot of questions for a while about the things you like. It’s ok to tell us you don’t like something. It’s also ok to tell us if you don’t know.”

“It’s also ok to change your mind later, mate. As you can see your dad and I are dressed very differently but both are fine. Sometimes you need to dress up more and other times more casual. But I do want to get you some simple, comfortable clothes for you to wear when we paint so your nicer clothes don’t get messed up,” Klaus tells him.

When the ladies catch up with them they have bought a little of everything. Jeans and khakis in different styles and colors. Sweatpants and hoodies as well as button up shirts and pull overs that are casual and some dress shirts. Much to the amusement of Klaus, EJ insisted that they had to buy him a jacket and tie as well.

“You want to dress up like your dad,” he asked him.

“I like the way it looks,” EJ said with a smile.

They also bought tennis shoes, dress shoes, slides and boots. The look on the women’s faces when they saw all the bags made them laugh.

“Don’t look at me, Love,” Klaus says to Charlotte. “We told EJ it was ok to tell us what he did and didn’t like. Turns out he’s that much like his Dad already. The boy loves clothes. The grin on Elijah’s face was adorable.

“Daddy I’m getting hungry.”

“What would you like to eat son?”

“Aunt Con usually cooks something.”

“Have you had pizza before,” Bex asked.

When he looked at her puzzled they decided a buffet was in order so he could try many different things. And he did. By the time dinner was done they had decided that dinner would be a family occasion and everyone would chip in to cook and clean, EJ included.

While at dinner Klaus showed the pictures he had taken throughout the day. Everyone loved the pic of EJ on Elijah’s shoulders looking at the ice cream. The selfie of the three of them with the large bowl in front of them was also a fav.

When the family arrive back at the compound EJ is sleeping soundly in the backseat. Elijah picks him up, trying not to wake him and carries him up to Hope’s room. He and Charlotte get him changed and tucked into bed before joining the others in Elijah’s study.
