So while David Cameron is going to town on the looters (not doing quite as well as Obama did kickin BP's ass) and I've got political analyses coming every which way, I thought, there's something everyone's missing. Kids riot not because BlackBerry told them to, but because Martin off the Simpsons was an all time luter, and considering these riot kids think homophones are pink BlackBerries, they're getting real mixed messages. Nerds lute, hoddies loot, same difference to them (and to me, I dictate these reviews to my PA, Winston). It all starts with education. It's about getting these kids out of crackhouses and into school, into Latin class where they belong, so they can tell the Sanskrit loot from the Provençal lute like everyone else.
(This 13th century Italian etching by Mellssa de Pirani depicting Martin from the Simpsons in cahoots with Biggie Smalls may document the first time the two words were confused.)
The only coffee in Sydney with its ear to the ground when it comes to ironing out riots over stringed instruments is Allpress. They are the great coffee roasters of the people, the ones with Karl Marx beards and unfashionable shorts. The ones who don't care if you're tall and white and order a double ristretto in a latte glass and call it a "dub ritzy" just the same as if you were a kid struggling through school who deals drugs on the side so that he can one day start the Redfern Philological Society. We're all welcome. This is coffee, not art, not science, damn sight not politics, it's coffee. A man's coffee, if you're a man. And if not, a tough woman's coffee, for the right now.
Allpress's service to society does not stop at its straight up and down coffee, and amongst scholars, its influence in the breakfast category may extend to solve the mystery of what caused the big bang. The breakfast plate—composed of half an avocado, a roma tomato, a healthy portion of fresh ricotta, a hard boiled egg (you can forget about this if need be) and a wedge of lemon, next to three thinly sliced fans of toasted sourdough—at a cost of only $8, is a sensation. When I first read of it, I thought, perhaps for peasants, but not for me. Then at the behest of my hilarious companion on a pilgrimage for boiled eggs and soldiers I found myself in Allpress Espresso one morning at 7 am, and while there took the breakfast plate out of desperation, and it changed my life. The pronounced glow in the above picture is generated by a special kind of Cherenkov radiation that interacts with cells in the body to cause great happiness. I now know how to solve class-based division in society, to bring everyone to the same table, in one truly democratic enterprise: the Allpress Espresso breakfast plate. Try it, and try not to cry.

found a new real coffee place for the very few of those cups in my life.
