rules: google and post the meaning of your oc’s name (if you made their name up or they go by a nickname, post an explanation of how it came to you)! bonus if you can find something for their last name too.
I'm keeping a sci-fi vibes here since it's what I've been up to lately. XD
Viktoria - German, Scandinavian and Greek variant of Victoria. Means "victory" in Latin, being borne by the Roman goddess of victory.
Shepard - As known, it's a variant of Shepherd. Several origins.
When I first created her, I picked Viktoria for aesthetics - then later at the ending of ME3 when Javik calls her an Avatar of Victory, I just couldn't let go.
Alison - Norman French diminutive of Aalis. Means "noble type".
Florea - Roman cognomen that was derived from Latin flos meaning "flower".
Ryder - Occupational name for a mounted warrior, from Old English ridere meaning "rider".
I usually pick a meaning behind the name before naming a character, but I just wanted to call her "Ally", and the best fit ended up being Alison. Florea is a Romanian surname, and her birth surname before she was adopted into the Ryders.
Dante - Medieval short form of Durante, Italian form of the Late Latin name Durans, which meant "enduring".
Alkan - From Turkish al meaning "dark red, crimson" and kan meaning "blood".
"V" from Viper - Dante's alias when still working as assassin for his family, he first introduced himself as such for safeguard. "Viper" eventually turned just "V".
Dante is actually a repurposed old OC. In his original form, instead of having Viper as alias, he goes by the name Hellion. Viper ended up being adapted to fit the game's theme, and is an ode to his mother's alias.
