Whumptober Day 16

I skipped so many days...oops oh well here is this little one with my OCs Avery and Nathan.  (unfortunately not as whumpy as I’d like. still hope you enjoy.)

Prompt: Pinned down

“Nathan, I need an exit plan...like now!” 

Her voice rang out over the coms pulling Nathan from his thoughts, “What do you mean you need an exit plan? What did you do?” 

“What did I do?! Why do you thi--” 

Nathan jumped out of his seat when the coms cut out, “Avery...can you hear me?...no no shit.” He moved over to the computer monitor and flipped through the live footage of the museum. He couldn’t find her anywhere...which was probably a good thing since she looped the feeds to hide her movements. He almost hit himself that he’d forgotten about that. He swiveled in his seat and pulled out the building floor plans, maybe he could think of something. 

“Nathan I’m running out of time.. I need a plan now.” her voice was low as something rumbled in the background of the feed.

He let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding as he smiled to himself, “I need a location, I can’t see you.”

She spoke quickly and quietly, “16th and 17th century Japan room.”

“Got you! In two hundred feet on the left there is an emergency exit with alarm activate it and then go right to the 20th century war armory. There is a service elevator that will take you to the back exit.”

He heard her take a deep breath, “Okay here...Oh shit.” 

The line went dead again and Nathans heart speed up, “Avery...Avery are you okay?” he was panicking and about to run out the van as the doors to it flew open. He was so startled he pulled a gun and almost fired from surprise.

“Whoa..don’t shoot. We don’t have time for me to out in the van...now let’s go.” He lowered the gun and looked at her in surprise as she climbed in holding the ancient relic in hand. “Helloooo...We need to go NOW!” 

Nathan shook himself from his thoughts as he climbed in the driver’s seat, “Right...Hold on.”
