Aspec Glossary: Alove/Loveless

What is the Aspec Glossary?

Alove or loveless is sometimes considered a microlabel, a spectrum/identity of its own, or a modifier. Lovelessness is often associated with aromanticism, and as far as I can find, the term was first used in reference to a subtype of aromanticism, but is not exclusive to aromantics.

Loveless people may not relate to or experience love in general, including romantic and sexual love, platonic love, familial love, etc. This may even apply to hobbies, nature, etc.

Loveless people may prefer to discuss enjoyment, appreciation, etc. of people and things rather than love.

The alove or loveless spectrum, just like the aromantic, asexual, aplatonic, afamilial, etc. spectrums, describe people who may experience some level of love, but it is less or different than is considered typical.

Note: This is one identity/spectrum/term that is very far out of my wheelhouse, so huge shoutout to @our-loveless-experiences and the Loveless Wiki! I highly recommend checking those out if you want to learn more about lovelessness. Additionally, corrections are welcome if you feel I have misunderstood or poorly worded something.

lovenormativity is: the societal norm and expectation that everyone experiences love and the desire to pursue loving relationships

Loveless definition: Anyone who doesn't experience, relate, or identify with the term love.

Alovespec definition: Someone whose identity falls under lovelessness or is closely related to lovelessness when placed on the breadth loving and loveless.

It can also refer to people who don't wish to further label their identity.
