Got hand carders for my birthday so I can finally tackle this alpaca my dad found at a resale shop years ago!

First attempt!…and 2nd, 3rd 4th, and finally 5th where I finally think for the first time I’m starting to get it

Oh, this is gonna take a while, isn’t it? I should have weighed this bag before I started.

Made it to 10, and then quickly up to 23 where I had an ‘ah-ha’ moment and finally got down the motion a bit better. Still looks like I’ve done nearly nothing to the bag.

I want to start spinning these, but I also think it would be funny to wait until I have a mountain of rolags. No clue what I’ll do with this, I was thinking sweater before I realized it was alpaca 😬

Hey to all doll makers and customizers (and fiber artists too lol) - our two old alpacas just got sheared for the summer, so I have a bunch of brown fiber and a bunch of white fiber. Unprocessed/raw, with a shorter staple length than most suri (2-4 inches, theyre suri x huacaya crosses so have the silky straight fiber but not as long). I'll let you have as much as you want for the cost of shipping! Just trying to save attic space.
