Well... I don’t have a lot to say about this one. Except that it’s from the RP and wow. Also Chloe in his hat is adorable and (again) I have no idea how to draw children.
a coffee for a quivering heart (떨리는 마음을위한 커피) — Part 2: a future with you is what I desire the most
summary: mornings in their happily-ever-after begin with hand-dripped coffee; Inspired by the quote. "That moment in between the whiff of freshly brewed coffee in the morning and the burning of the tongue that will awaken the spirit, that is when I desire you the most."; an epilogue I have long anticipated.
Seri can smell the morning even before she opens her eyes. The whiff of freshly brewed coffee, the hearty sizzle of four sunny-side-ups in the pan, the vaporized butter from toasting croissants, the soft scent of dewy grass wafting in through the open windows, the warmth of sleep lingering between the sheets. Her mind travels slow back towards consciousness. Her senses tingle towards the tips of her toes and her fingers as she reaches across their bed to pull Jeonghyeok’s pillow into her arms. Ri Jeonghyeok never stopped functioning on a soldier’s sleep schedule, much to her resigned amusement, but she has no complaints when it gives them such mornings when they could take a few moments for their individual selves before they slowly drift back towards each other. Seri rests her nose against the softness of the pillow and breathes in the familiar scent of her lover that settles comfortably somewhere between her stomach and heart. She can easily drift back to sleep like this.
Seri can feel Jeonghyeok’s eyes on her without having to open hers. She hears the almost-silent pitter-patter of his feet against the wood flooring and then the even quieter schiffle-shuffle when he walks across her downy faux-fur rug before he reaches the edge of their bed. She becomes more awake as the aroma of coffee drifts closer. Seri curls towards Jeonghyeok’s presence and peeks from under heavy eyelids when the bed dips under his weight, the blankets shifting as he slides a hand underneath to wrap his fingers around her ankle. He greets her with a doting smile, the same after all these years, warmer than the sunlight that highlights his cheeks turning a rosier gold. Seri easily replies with a lazy grin, stretching under his gaze for bit before she sits up. Jeonghyeok rubs his thumb against the inside of her ankle which makes Seri wiggle with a nervous shiver. She lets him pull her knit shawl snug over her shoulders and deposit into her waiting hands a mug of drip coffee. No cream, one teaspoon of sugar, just the way she likes it. The heat steps through her palms just right. The coffee smells full, promising a day of pure goodness.
Jeonghyeok watches Seri bring the mug under her nose and close her eyes again as she takes everything in. She opens her eyes when he rests a callused palm over her knee and meets him halfway when he leans over and kisses the goodness of the morning into her mouth. The coffee tastes bland in comparison to his lips when she takes a quick sip to hide her cheeks that still blush, now less out of excitement and more from the rush of affection she feels having him so close once again. She forgets about the scalding heat of the bitter coffee as he licks into her mouth, soothing away the burning of her tongue, and focuses on the desire he stirs thrumming steadily within.
Mornings with him feel like waking up after a full eight hours of sleep from a dream that she cannot remember but knows was good; a certain satisfaction. Some days it still feels like a dream to be here in Switzerland, in their home with him and the family they’ve built. From the room next door spill the whining and laughter of their little girl and her little brother starting their day. In these days of a fate fought hard for, Yoon Seri and Ri Jeonghyeok are more than themselves, they’re living for more than each other, they have more than they have ever dreamt of having. Jeonghyeok presses a swift smile into Seri’s cheeks, a sweet kiss atop her nose, and whispers softly against her lips, “annyeong.” Mornings with him always feel like this.
