Thinking about Ellwood waking up in the hospital and realizing he is not fit for duty. Sidney Ellwood would have to grow old. Alone. While Gaunt was at best, unnamed, and buried in a battlefield mass grave. Ellwood had seen how bodies don't stay buried, how shells pull them out of the ground. The way rats and worms feast on them leaving nothing but bones to be polished by the sun. He thought of that sweet boy who told him not to let the other see him cry. He thought of soldiers trampling over the corpse, boots stepping on the lifeless face of Henry, tearing the rotten flesh that Ellwood has kissed and touched. Bombs ripping apart and scattering the lifeless shell of what used to be his Henry. That man who laid naked and vulnerable telling Ellwood that he needed this, he needed to be loved by Ellwood. Perhaps after the rats and rain and the boots and the bombs the love of his life became nothing at all. Even centuries later, when the war is long gone Henry will always be 18 years old, left bare and unnamed in the landscape of France and Ellwood will lay so far away, old, and cozy in his English grave.
Ok I'm done with volume 1. Oh my God.
.😭😭😭
Yeah, but Buck picking up a firefighter's axe and using it to literally destroy the barrier between life and death, coming back to his friends and family? Poetic cinema.
All right look I can listen to "True Destroyer of Worlds," Void's final boss them from Kirby Star Allies, and be PERFECTLY FINE until they bring out the sad "Green Greens" melody
Like why would you hurt me with such beauty, why would you twist the knife of nostalgia with the chiptune section so reminiscent of the original game, WHY WOULD YOU STRANGLE ME WITH THE VIOLIN AND CONCUSS ME WITH THE PIANO IT HURTS I LOVE IT SO SO MUCH AUGH
10/10 final boss theme, gotta be up there with "C-R-O-W-N-E-D" and "Mind in a PROGRAM"
Top-tier, would sob miserably in a ball of fangirl at 3 in the morning again
when the confrontation between pran and his mom happened, i was so proud of pran for standing up for himself, despite his fear and his loyalty to his family, he managed to tell her, risking being shipped to another place again, because he loves pat so much.
and i love how pran and pat both know how unfair it is to be involved in this situation when everything happened before they were even born. even more because everything could have been avoided if they knew the truth.
i do think if pran knew the truth maybe he wouldn’t let himself get closer to pat (on his mom’s behalf), but that decision should’ve been his and not “implanted” in his head.
pran’s mom took away his free will, his ability to make a decision, and i understand she was hurt, but as pran said, it is not his duty to save her reputation, children are not responsible for their parents’ legacy or saving their honor or whatever you would call it.
all pran’s mom did was inflict loneliness upon him, she forced him to lie and to run away from his feelings. she made him feel like he wouldn’t be loved if he got closer to pat, that he needed to earn her love by being the son she expected him to be - a son who will honor her, who will not fraternize with the ‘enemy’ (even if the enemy is a kid her son’s age).
we could stay here and discuss how his relationship with his mom and his relationship with wai are so similar, but it would take a long time and in the end it all comes down to the fact that pran feels like he has to fight for their love, he has to do things for them, he has to be someone else for them to love him.
and that last scene was so important because pran is torn inside, he loves his family, he loves pat, he doesn’t want to choose because both are important to him and he doesn’t want to choose because that’s not who he is. he likes playing the guitar, he likes teasing pat and he likes being teased by him.
in the end, all pran wants is to be accepted and loved for who he is, without conditions, freely.
and he is: by pat
pat who offered to pretend he had his heart broken to get wai talking to pran again, who declared his love in front of the entire architecture department and who only left with his parents after pran told (ordered) him to go
pat who hugs his boyfriend when he is crying and says let’s get away from here to make him happy again, even if it’s just for a day.
