Okay, but if he still has working tear ducts he would cry because “at least people like cats, Jazz! How am I supposed to go anywhere without people knowing that I’m a freak now?!”
Probably asks his parents for a custom face mask, depending on how big the mandibles are. Anything, no matter how gaudy, would be better than that.
Actually, how would his Phantom form work? If he can shapeshift, it would be simple enough to look normal-ish because he’s spent most of his life like that, and it’s more than likely he feels more like himself without the bug bits. That would help hide his identity I guess, so that’s a little bit of a relief. On the other hand, if he can’t shapeshift yet… it’s basically an instant reveal. Uh oh.
Anyway, I guess most of his mutation would depend on what kind of bug he becomes. A butterfly is a lot different than an ant after all. If it’s a combination of multiple bugs, it could be near anything.
I suppose I would expect pincers, wings, and compound eyes. What kind of wings? I don’t know. There are a lot of options. Perhaps the Spotted Lanternfly. Just found it, it’s pretty cool. In Phantom form just replace the red with bright green.
Apparently their mouths are made for piercing plants and sucking their sap out. Not exactly mandibles/probuscus, but close!
Anyway, his Wail… I imagine it would mutate to sound like a cicada-A regular cicada already produces noice up to 100 decibels. Danny’s new Wail would probably be AT LEAST twice as effective as it already was, which is Scary considering how strong it already is.
