breeding is 100% luck unless you already have perfect parents the difference is with less IVs your chances are better with a power item and ofc replace one of the parents (with a ditto unless youre breeding for egg moves) to get a male or female that matches like. say my male fennekin has perfect hp and atk. my female fennekin has perfect hp and def. ill put them in the daycare, one holding an everstone to pass the nature and the other holding the power item for defense. this guarantees me a baby with perfect def but ill also have a high possibility of getting the hp and then the atk would be less likely but eventually youll get that too. then what you do is put that baby in the daycare. so now our fennekin is in the daycare with perfect hp atk and def. replace the ditto with a different ditto and lets say the ditto has perfect sp def and speed. put a power anklet on the ditto so now my baby will ALWAYS have perfect speed but a very high chance of having perfect hp atk def and then sp def. if youre lucly youll get 4 but its ok to settle for 4. so lets say we got a baby fennekin (male) and the one currently in the daycare is (female) the female has perfect hp atk and def and the male has perfect hp def sp def and speed. youre going to most likely get more 4IVs or at least 3IVs that you can use to replace one of the parents as you see fit. keep chaining until both parents have 4 and are covering the ones youre missing for example say your female has perf HP ATK DEF SP ATK and your male has perf HP DEF SP DEF SPEED. THIS is when you shuld use the destiny knot and your chance to get a penta perfect or hexa perfect will be higher. it doesnt really take that long maybe an hour maybe less depending on how fast youre generating and hatching the eggs.
