I'm trying not to reblog "the kiss" yet for spoiler reasons, but coughcough that tag about eredin/avallac'h... 👀👀👀

I almost wrote a ficlet this November for my ficlet month. It was on the list! But couldn't get the inspiration. I'm not huggeee on what they did with avallac'h and the aen elle in general in BO (eredin makes some sense narratively but its still ehh what's with that) but it does make me think several thoughts about them as a concept. Hell, they could even end up Canon which is whacky? I love morally dubious elves.

Glass shatters along his veins - shadows dog his footsteps Balancing upon the razor edge; double agent with his own agenda There are no words for how tired he has become, how worn Down he is; weighing the cost of lives in his hands while they Forget the blood on their own - and when everything upended When hatred mutates into a cautious understanding What’s left but to swallow down his own inventions and hope That he can pull a miracle against the odds - that his oath May be fulfilled and the world will leave him be, with only The peace of unicorns for company Alas the road is long and dark - he’s always known he’s, at best, grey But better grey than lost in the white blinded by the sense of right The pain caught silently behind gritted teeth tells the truths he’d rather forget He is his own, and woe betide the man who seeks to command him For he will do as he sees fit - his patronus is his promise and he won’t falter
