It's very dear to me that the element of water is known by the tribes ability to "change" and their "deep love and community" and it shines absolutely perfectly in both Sokka and Katara. Sokka is like two feet away from making a plan or creating some wild new invention in the world of Avatar, then there is Katara who is changing tradtions in Northern Water Tribe but also that of her care for the group as a community. or my favourite, both decide a jail break is perfectly reasonable after knowing one (1) guy for like 3 days?
And that, is what truly endeared me to the two of them. Everytime I watch ALTA, I always revel in Sokka and Katara just consistently going about the world doing a very extreme version of "fuck around & find out" on wonderfully chaotic levels.
