#1 - Vivaldi🎯 - a private search engine with no AI integration / AI overviews of online sources!
#2 - Ecosia🌱 - a search engine where your browsing contributes to reforestation! AI search / integration is available, but you don't have to use this - plus the widgets are fire!!😉
#3 - Vimeo💙 - an alternative to youtube (a lot like early youtube) - alot of artists and creatives post here I feel it deserves more recognition!
#4 - Qobuz🎧 - while a subscription is needed, this is a music app with no AI integration, amazing, more "out there" reccomendations for music explorers, and an app that gives back to / supports artists more❤️
#5 - Tidal🎵 - one of my fav music apps! The layout is a lot like YT music, but it is artist-first and actively demotes AI music slop - algorithmic integration is for "daily discovery" and similar "mixes" - curators promote new artists through "TIDAL Rising"!
#6 - Internet Archive📺 - so so underrated!! I use it to watch old TV broadcasts and specials - I keep them on quick access with my Ecosia bookmarks widget!
#7 - NewPipe🔺️ - a Youtube alternative that is downloadable as an app via their website (re-download on the same website when updates are available!) - it contains all youtube content except shorts - you can downlad vids too!! It is also very customizeable and only your subscriptions show up on your main feed!
#8 Freetube🔷️ - very similar to newpipe, but I was able to download it more easily on my surface pro - more customizations too!
#9 Sflix🤫 - a website (sflix.fi) and an app with a layout similar to most streaming services (it has a very clean appearance!), but EVERYTHING is free - some ads you have to sit through for the app, and you can avoid pop-ups on the website by going full-screen - some media is available on the website but not the app so I go back and forth to check - I can not reccomend this enough!! -- let's keep this one on the down-low though, ok?😉
#10 Tangible Media💿 - I LIVE for the days of DVD and VHS - buying physical copies is a great way to support your favorites without any nasty subscriptions!
*BONUS* - Tumblr💜 - I know whomever is reading this is currently on the app, but I urge you to share it with others especially your loved ones and fam! (My parents are suffering from Facebook and Instagram reel burnout lol) - such an amazing chill space overall for everyone esp the creatives!
