Introducing my Super Rug! I got 4 rugs for $5 each at Five Below, they are 3'x5' and I stitched them together to make a 12'x5' long rug for the front of my room. This is where I will put two coffee tables and some cushions as part of my alternative seating experiment. You could also sew them two by two to make a more normally proportioned 6'x10' rug. $20! Can't beat that. They are 100% cotton, rough like sacking and very strong.
Flexible Seating!
Taking the big leap to flexible seating. I moved to a new school, which means a new classroom, and it is filled with those little desks with attached seats, rather than tables and chairs. As soon as I walked in I saw they were in the customary straight rows facing the teacher’s desk and it felt like my heart was in a vice. Nope!
So I took out ten desks and pulled in a couch from theatre storage. I put 8 desks in 4 rows of 2 at the “back” (closest to my desk), then 3 islands with 4 desks in the middle. Now the front is open for beanbags and stools, floor pillows, and coffee tables. I just need to run by IKEA, Five Below, and some garage sales to complete it!
Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
