This week, for the Come Follow Me lesson, we talk a little bit about baptism and the sacrament. For both of these ordinances, we make this same covenant.

The story at the beginning of this talk was amazing to me. I love the idea that we as members of the church have already been taught the basic principles of the church. We can learn from others, but we can also teach. I believe that everyone has something they can teach someone else. I also really like the other lesson taught by this story, that by desiring to know or be better at something we’re already becoming better at that thing. Having a will to do something is already submitting ourselves and it’s the first step of developing that skill. This talk goes on to the next idea that Christ is the one that helps us achieve all of the goals that we have. Remembering Christ gives us the ability to get through the hard times, to become more Christ-like, to serve others and for his grace to fill us. I love the line “They would have known the Savior spoke of them.” This is one of my most favorite ideas. Once, I was considering this with some friends and leaders and someone had said that they thought Christ was up in heaven advocating for us. We imagined Christ tugging on Heavenly Father’s sleeve when we did something good or accomplished something and saying, “Look! Did you see what they just did? Aren’t they amazing?” and then when we made a choice that wasn’t so good, him saying, “Hold on. GIve it just a minute. We’re going to fix this. I’m going to help them.” And this idea has been a comfort to me ever since. It is such a nice thing to remember that our Savior is always there for us, that even in our darkest time he cares. This talk captures the essence of this idea, that remembering the Lord, remembering his commandments, remembering what blessing are promised to us will help us to be better, happier, and give us hope. Letting the Savior into our lives lets so much more in too.

Dear Markiplier

markiplier, I’m not sure if you are going to read this or not, but I just wanted you to know that you have been a extreme comfort to me.... 

You see, two weeks ago I had gotten a phone call on the way from work, it was one of my best friends; Kay. She called to tell me that a good friend of mine, ours and the whole community of Maricopa, Arizona had died that morning in a car accident, he was only sixteen. It was very sudden and it shattered me, I was reduced to a puddle of tears within seconds and didn’t know what to do...

I no longer in Arizona and didn’t have anyone I could call my best friend, so I was left to grieve on my own... Then I had the dreadful task of calling my two other best friends and give them the news. We cried together and then left them to grieve with their friends and family.

But I was all alone at the time, my mother was trying her best to come home, my dad was answering his phone and my brother was still at work not knowing the news... It was like I was choking and I didn’t know how to breath.

Then I did what I always did when I found myself crying; I put one of your videos on, I don’t recall which one, but as I watched I began to laugh and smile and for a moment I didn’t have any worries or hardships. (I might have to watch some of your goofy videos after I’m done with this...) 

I guess what I’m trying to say is; Thank you.... I know you think you don’t do enough or you wish you could do more for your fans, but what you are doing right now? All the videos, the charities, the comic cons, everything! That is more than enough. Giving people laughter, that’s a gift within itself! With laughter you can brighten even the gloomiest day and that kind of a super power.... Mark, you a superhero and I hope you can see that because I do and every single one of your fans do too.
