Temporary single pringle!

As my husband was away for the week this week, I had to play the role of mummy and daddy for the time being! Needless to say, the week got off to a bumpy start and made me question how I would survive the rest of the week on my own with two kids! It made me have a lot of respect for all the mummies out there that do it everyday! 

Saturday night was ....O.K. Phoebe had a slight fever so was waking up regularly which wasn't that bad. Sunday, however was a completely different story. I took the kids watch my brother play American football which was a lot of fun. I had never been with them before and I think having the children there made me enjoy it just that little bit more than I did when I wasn't a parent. Joshua was having a whale of a time! He even asked to go on the field in the middle of the game! Phoebe appeared to be fine until we got back to my parents house when she got a little hot to touch and was acting very tired. She wasn't in the mood to eat but did manage a couple of spoonfuls of pureed fruit. Joshua had drank so much that afternoon that he was constantly in and out of the loo which was hard for me to supervise as I had Phoebe to worry about as well. Then it was time for a bath..... I took them both upstairs, sat down to change them both and Phoebe was sick all over me :( the poor little thing didn't know what to do with herself. This was not the best start to my week alone. I was reluctant to get in the car and go home , could of just stayed there with them had it not been for pre-school in the morning! The rest of the week was actually pretty tame in comparison ! I didn’t get much done around of the house of course but it wasn’t a bomb site! I felt as though I could just get on and do things because usually I wait to see if my husband is going to do it just for laughs but with him not being there, it was completely down to me so it just got done. We had a lovely afternoon with my friend I’ve known since school and her two little boys and Joshua is still talking about it now and is convinced we are going out with them again every time I ask him to put his shoes on! Luckily for him , we are seeing them again tomorrow for one of their birthdays :)

‘All by myself’

The husband has gone away on a stag weekend so that leaves me with the two kiddies for the next two days. Going to have to find something for us to do tomorrow otherwise we might all go crazy indoors hehe ! Party for babies? haha!

Phoebe’s 9 month update.

I literally can't believe how fast Phoebe has grown up ! How is she 9 months already? I think i’ve been putting off doing this post for a while as I don’t think I want to admit it haha ! 

So anyway, Phoebe is approx. 22lbs and 72cm (2ft 4inch) tall. She can clap her hands albeit in her own style in which she puts her hands together and basically shakes her own hand. She will wave to you if you say ‘hello’ to her or wave at her. Recently she has tried to copy some sounds and words like ‘hello’ and ‘uh oh’ . One word that she does say regularly is ‘mumma’. Last week she took her first steps and the most she has done is 6 steps. At the same time she started standing quite confidently on her own. I can’t believe that part as when I compare her to Joshuas milestones, she's done a few things earlier than he did. A lot of people have told me that tends to happen with the second child.  

She will climb the stairs at any opportunity. If she sees that the stair gate has been left open accidentally, she will dart for the stairs with a giggle! Even when we are upstairs and a door is left open, she will scurry out the door so fast! A cheeky little personality is appearing. She likes a bit of rough and tumble with her brother but sometimes it gets too much for her.

Funny latch

This is a bit of a weird post I suppose but I wanted write it to remember it later on. 

Today, while I was lying down on my side on the sofa, watching the tv, Phoebe crawls up to the sofa and climbs up to stand right next to me. She then starts tugging at my top and opening her mouth really wide at the same time as moving her head towards me. I knew exactly what she was trying to do. So I thought, as a laugh, to see whether she would latch in this funny position, so I opened my top up and sure enough she was latched on in a shot ! I was giggling so much it distracted her and she looked up at me as if to say 'what? isn't this normal mummy?'

Jumping

Phoebe surprised the both of us last night. She crawled up to my husband who was sitting on the floor and stood herself up, he then held her hands and she actually jumped off the floor without any help ! She's surprising me every day at how fast she's growing up and how fast her skills are developing. She's having more regular meals now too. As she's getting older we can start to experiment with different flavours with her. As I mentioned before, I follow another mum on YouTube and other social sites that she runs and she posted and picture of some baby pancakes which has minimal ingredients. I'm really interested in trying them with her

We also had our first proper parents meetings at Joshua's nursery on Wednesday. It was just a little chat to see how he's getting on after his first few months there. It turns out Joshua is doing really well and fitting in quite well. I have to admit though, when his key worker told me that he hadn't waited his turn when they were playing a game with some other children, I was a little embarrassed. She did then go onto say that after he was told how to do it, he waited nicely for his turn. I'm not sure I agree with being told that his speech is "dodgy" but I think that might of been a slip of the tongue. I know that he has delayed speech and we are in the process of helping him get it sorted and up to speed but there might of been better words than dodgy haha !

News and more

Loving our new shower by the way ! I'm not worried about the water leaking out and the water going over the top of the sides because the last shower was shorter than us! There's enough space for me to shave my legs, so yes that does mean I wasn't able to do it since christmas as I refuse to do it in the bath and sit in a bath full of little hairs kicking about ! But fear not, I do not look beastly now !! It was bad ....sorry haha ! 

Phoebe is now pulling herself up to stand which I swear is way too early for a 6 month old to be doing and most recently she is trying to learn how to get from standing to sitting in a safe way as falling straight back onto her bottom just doesn't seem to be working for her !! She wants to get into everything and is very determined, especially if Joshua is sitting on the iPad, she seems to rush over to him so that she can touch the screen which annoys Joshua a lot because he's so into the game he's playing at the time!! Phoebe will copy you if you say "ba ba". I feel like I might of mentioned this before but anyway.... it's very cute!! Ohhh and she has a second tooth trying to pop through her gums and isn't coping very well. It does look very red and sore ....poor thing :( 

Onto Joshua, it seems that all of a sudden he's very open to eating certain foods that until recently he would of straight out refused to eat, like vegetables. There's no way he would of eaten them a few weeks ago, he saw them on his fork and pushed them away straight away but he's not actually refusing anything at the moment so I'm really happy we are able to get some veg inside of him ! I was watching him playing one of the games on the iPad the other day, Despicable Me, and his reactions are incredible, my husband says that Joshua can get a better score on it than he can. He's pretty damn good at it. Neither of us actually sat down and taught him how to play it either! 

For some reason I've slacked a little bit with my posts but i'm going to try and get better again !

Off to Wales

I haven't written on here for a good few days now and the title really explains why. We didn't have much internet while we were there apart from our phones and I was worried that I was going to go over my data limit so barely used that! 

Sunday, which was the day after valentines the husband went off to his trials and I had the day to myself and the kiddies. We didn't get up to much but we had been at my parents the day before to see my dad for his birthday! 

We spent Monday getting things ready to leave for Wales on Tuesday morning and by the time Tuesday came we managed to fill the whole of the boot which is crazy because it's quite big as we have a Zafira. I decided to drive the first half of the 4 hour journey. In the end, I actually did nearly 3 hours haha ! We went straight to my husbands cousins house and she has 2 children of a similar age to Joshua (4 & nearly 2) They all went off and played. They get on like a house on fire and it's so nice to see them all playing together. As it was pancake day we had lots of yummy pancakes too :) 

The next day, we went into Cardiff to do a bit of shopping and lunch! Joshua didn't like shopping much but there aren't many times that he does, other than that though it was quite a successful trip because we got everything we set out to get, football boots and makeup. Two very different things haha ! I've spent the last few weeks not wanting to wear a full face of makeup because I went for a different foundation recently which wasn't my usual one and it didn't work on my skin so now that i've bought my usual one it's such a relief !!! Thursday morning we went to the farm to see some more family and had a nice catch up and lunch with them. At the end of our visit, we walked around the farm to see the cows, it was quite wet and rainy so we ended up with classic muddy farm feet haha ! Joshua loved seeing the animals and was greeting them all which was very funny !! After we left, we went to a garden centre to see more animals but couldn't spend too long as we needed to have an early dinner so that we could head off home at a good time. 

We got home about 9.30pm. Everyone had been talking about Eastenders online and I wanted to watch it myself before finding out so by the time we got home, I had already missed the first episode of the night and had forgotten to watch it so waited until it was repeated on BBC three!! My husband paused the tv half way through the episode and made me guess who killed Lucy and it turns out my random guess was right !!  YAY haha

Oh no

Joshua lost his voice today. This morning he could only manage a whisper and gradually over the day he got a bit louder but only a bit! He tried to shout but not much came out , it was very cute ! But at least he's getting better ! Another problem or not a problem depending on who's view you're looking at, is that Phoebe cut a tooth through her gums today!!! You can only see the top just poking through but it's definitely there. I noticed it when I was putting her to bed. Looking back over the last couple of days , she's been biting down really really hard when I feed her which she never did before, so now I know why !!!! Hopefully Joshua will be going to nursery tomorrow as he's feeling better . The only real symptom he has left is the lack of a voice as I feel he's back to his usual self! Always Mummy xx
