fic rec! 6K a/b/o BBC Merlin fic. Assult, but nothing else.
Summary: For years, Merlin kept his omega identity under wraps, posing instead as a beta. An encounter with bandits reveals his secret to Arthur in the worst way possible.
Comments: Normally I’m not into ABO fics, but I’m very much into h/c fics and after reading so many about Crowley I switched to Merlin for a little variety.
I was presently surprised by this fic. There’s no rape, despite summary vibes, but there is an assult that Arthur comes to the resuce of. What I really liked however was Merlin’s motivation for taking suppressents - avoiding the abuse an omega gets. I totally related to Merlin’s feelings here (hey, if a potion exisited that stopped people from catcalling me or being creepy, I’d take it) and I also adored how, now that his secret is out, Arthur and Merlin don’t become a couple. Oh, sure, there’s hints it’s coming, but the fic ends soley with Arthur becoming an amazing ally and I appreciated that.
