What’s out this week? 3/15/17
Here in DC, we’re preparing for our first real snow of the winter... and it’s March. THANKS CLIMATE CHANGE
Batwoman #1 by Marguerite Bennett, James Tynion IV, and Steve Epting
The Rebirth #1 we’re most excited for in a looong time. We love Batwoman, we love Marguerite Bennett, and the two together in Detective Comics have been amazing, so we’re happy to see her getting an ongoing solo series.
Coady and the Creepies #1 by Liz Prince and Amanda Kirk
You might know Liz Prince from Tomboy and Alone Forever, but now she’s writin her first ongoing Boom series! It’s about a punk band... where one of the members is dead?? “PUNK ISN’T DEAD BUT COADY IS!” If you’re into other Boom books like Giant Days or Jonesy or other sweeet band comics like Jem and the Holograms or Josie and the Pussycats, this is probs for you.
Island #15, edited by Brandon Graham and Emma Ríos; stories by Dilraj Mann, Brandon Graham, and Farel Dalrymple
The end of an era, the final issue of Island <///////3 This last issue features cover art and a story by Dilraj Mann, who did that great story “Queue” back in Island #3, plus the final chapter of the second arcs for both Brandon’s Multiple Warheads and Farel’s Pop Gun War. This anthology will always live on in our hearts.
Mirror #6 by Emma Ríos and Hwei Lim
Island might be ending, but Emma Ríos’ other book is back! Mirror finally begins its second story arc, with gorgeous watercolor as usual. If you haven’t checked this sci-fi/fantasy book about animals with human intelligence yet, we’ve got the first collected paperback volume at the store--and this issue #6 follows immediately after it.
