GALTx eNews: Emma Gets A Flying Chance!
Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare picked up Emma, a young Greyhound mix, outside of Caprock Canyon State Park along with two border collie mixes. No one came to claim her or adopt her and her time was running out. Emma was within an hour of her scheduled euthanasia when volunteers were able to pull her from the shelter for GALT. The shelter's Volunteer Transportation Coordinator arranged for Pilots N Paws to fly Emma from Amarillo to the Dallas area and on November 12th, we welcomed her to the GALT family. Emma is our first arrival via Pilots N Paws!
After a night in a temporary foster home and a visit to our vet, Emma moved in with a long term foster family who reports that she is super smart and learns easily. She already sits on command and potty trained quickly. She is still learning to leave textiles alone though as she enjoys chewing dishtowels, dusters, and clothes a bit too much. Emma is a cuddler and loves people. She is also getting along great with her Greyhound foster siblings.
Stay tuned for more about her and her DNA results. She will be available once her medical procedures are complete and she has spent more time in a foster home.
