If you are familiar with Shinto or Japanese culture at all, you will most likely have seen the tomoe symbol. Tomoe,  (巴 or 鞆絵, とも) is a Japanese symbol that is widely accepted as the symbol of Shinto. ‘Tomoe’ can roughly be translated as ‘comma’, with mitsu-tomoe meaning ‘three commas’. The mitsu-domoe is the version usually used as a symbol in Shinto, with three being a sacred number.

vash is a plant based being fundamentally , so when amaterasu speaks , he has the authority to confirm that she not only is the rising sun , but that warmth and love translates perfectly in her voice . he is very fond of hearing her speak in her unique way , and he tends to lean in unintentionally to grasp her words , like a sunflower leaning towards the overhead sun throughout the day .

she reminds him of rem , his mother figure who died , in a lot of ways , and it reaffirms his philosophy on mercy being a legitimate way of approaching situations first . rem was the one to teach him to understand that humans are flawed , but capable of change , and he appreciates how she almost embodies rem's philosophy without even personally knowing about it . in fact , that fact makes it all the more special .

vash is very often sitting down with ammy , he finds being on her level a more suitable way / pseudo - respectful way of conversing with her . he's a bit of a taller person though , so he tends to hunch when he sits with her , and sometimes messes with the flowers she generates by sitting in one space too long .

he'll share food with amaterasu . he reaches up into the tree branches and grabs an awful of fruits for them both to snack on without ammy having to use a brush technique to knock them down . vash might need her help cutting them apart though , because vash is notoriously handy with a gun , but his skills with blades leave much to be desired . he likes the apples and the oranges and the peaches . he thinks eating with friends is vital , so he has no problem sharing with the wolf , he believes it creates a bond !
